Defensive Changes

Great defenses, first and foremost, disrupt offenses. They force the offenses out of their preferred schemes and plays and force them out of their comfort zones. They make the offensive players tentative and confused because what they see on the field isn't what they prepared for prior to the game. I don't see how you can be disruptive without speed, speed, and more speed. And, of course, a very intelligent ringleader on D on the field like we used to have an abundance of.

Imo we’re going to take a minor step back and mainly because of trench play, our DTs aren’t going be near as good as the last few years.

Ford has been a great disappointment so far.

Impossible. Everyone Coach Kul recruited is future all American according to people on the board. Trust Kul remember? I can't wait to see that 2 star Miller kid who isn't a 5 star because he didn't go to camps. Saban is going to be furious when he find we snuck one under his nose.

Ford & Bethel should have been redshirted, but as per usual, we didnt grab enough kids in their recruiting cycle. We should have a really good 4* JR going into next season with 3* rJR Bethel. We should have 4* SO Silvera paired with 3* rSO Ford and finally the Freshmen.

i'm wondering if that isn't just manny's scheme. have the lb's fill a hole, any hole quickly. let the safeties come up and make the tackle. never seemed like the lb's ever tried to dissect the run play instead they just crash down and hope for the best. the x and o guys here can expound on it better.

The problem is that sometimes they all pick the same hole.

Only if you make the mistake of paying any attention to the annually overhyped lineman out of spring practice.

We need to hit on the elite recruits at defensive tackle. There is no substitute. The Happy Adjuster specials are not going to bail us out, if we ever advance to playoff level again. Ohio State went nowhere on its first Rose Bowl possession running up the middle. Three and out. The next possession the Buckeyes began to assert authority in the trenches over Washington, methodically plowing for a touchdown. That aspect of the game decided the game.

Washington has a very good defense by college football standards but there is a vast difference between very good and winning in the playoffs calber good. The Canes haven't been there to get physically shellshocked and abused, which is how we get the dependable threads and posts that we are two classes away. I use Ohio State as example because that is a legitimate playoff caliber team that simply hasn't quite gotten there the past few years. But it demonstrates how far the Canes have to go.

Need 4 more DL via Bogle, Grad Transfers and or recruits. Martin can’t be counted on. And Miller is also a ?
