Defense Wins Championships Mr. Richt

True. But this is really true for all coaches that go on to do great things....

I'm wondered all around.. he will need great assistants on this staff to be successful.

yes you are correct but he needs not to repeat what he had in Georgia to be successful. i'm talking about winning national titles not just in the talks of. Rumors of him bringing willie martinez, yes he is a Miami guy here but come on really? Bringing his son on is fine, but i'm worried about his choices of quarterbacks to begin with, he does not posses that eye for elite quaterbacks outside of murray and stafford for being so offensive minded.

Defensive has been his major weakness considering bringing in tons of talent. I'm on the fence with this hire, who he hires will definitely tell me where this program is really going.

Outside of Murray and Stafford?

He inherited David Greene and DJ Shockley.

He then recruited Stafford. Murray followed him after a brief dance with somebody else and Murray was the QB until 2013.

He also recruited Zach Mettenberger.

He's had two mediocre QB's in 15 years...that ain't bad

Well... let's be honest he gets maybe a little too much credit in that department for being considered an "elite" QB coach. not saying you said this but all you see around this board is what a home-run hire this is. As a human being this guy is exactly what you want to represent college football despite what some people here have said during sony michel and few others recruitment.

My thing that scares me is who he has on staff that will help him win championships, I know the man can win 10 games year in and year out but I want more like everyone else. I agree talent alone in flordia wins you games but also hides holes that get exposed when you play same level talent then coaching makes the difference between championships and 10 win seasons. I'll wait until I hear who is hires before anything else.

I say let's cross that bridge when we get there. Let's start by winning the Coastal and winning the ACC. All this National Championship talk is nice but we have to walk before we learn to run.

Once we do that then we can talk about how he will do in big games against big name coaches from other Conferences. And with the way the Landscape is I say he has as good a chance as Jimbo or Dabo at winning a Championship.
Just get into the playoffs and see what happens,
