That FIU loss led us here.
You’d have to be a devout loser to be clinging to the FIU loss in the midst of this beautiful season. Look at this way: If we didn’t completely tank last year, we’d have the same staff and King wouldn’t be here.
Agree. That loss helped lead us here. You're almost always going to suffer losses like that when undergoing chemotherapy for a cancer in the program's culture.

Many times there are silver linings in difficult situations. Just got to look for them.

Why is that a stain? Diaz lost to a former NFL head coach who is also one of the GOAT talent evaluators in the history of CFB.

Yeah Miami SHOULD have won, but it's not like Diaz got beat by a Cristobal coached FIU team (which would have been an epic embarrassment).

That loss was one of the worst in UM history IMO... at the very least the most embarrassing. Indicative of a program hitting bottom. For UM, being the second best team in Miami is as bad as it gets.

I don't know what expectations you had for a Miami team that barely finished over .500 in 2018. We were also barely over .500 when playing FIU. Losing by 6 points to a Butch Davis coached FIU team doesn't get more than a shrug of my shoulders because we had been so bad for so long. I believe I posted after the 10 win season in 2017 that it was fool's gold and in reality we were an 8 win team at best (it took two miraculous catches to beat mediocre teams plus we got a scare from a 1 win UNC team). To me, that FIU loss is not remotely as bad as getting blanked 48-0 in the final game of the orange bowl. There were plenty of people who predicted a FIU upset because it was clear that Davis would have his team ready and would want to send a message about not hiring him, while Miami looked like it was sleepwalking through the season and was dealing with headcases who are supposed to be the leaders of the team disappearing for weeks because of girlfriend troubles. I wasn't that surprised we lost.

If you look at the 2017 team as an 8 win team (which it should have been), then the trend from 2016-2019 was 9, 8, 7, and 6 wins. Each team being a little worst than the last. Now we can say that FIU was hitting bottom because it's clear to the entire country we are on our way back up and are the 2nd best team in the ACC. Before Lashlee/King arrived, I expected this season would feature Enos/Williams again and thought we might win 5 games, if we were lucky and continue that linear trend downwards. If Miami had ended up winning only 5 games this season, I don't think last year's FIU loss would be the main topic of conversation and we would have a much different perspective of when we hit rock bottom.

I actually texted indyfarthauz earlier there’s a quiet confidence to the team.
I've mentioned before that times like Louisville last year, ND 17, etc. There was just a confidence that they'd win. I hope to see that tomorrow.

I will always like Butch for giving us the amazing run at the turn of the millennium... but faking cramps was Butch being a b**ch. If a FIU supporter ever brings it us, offer them a Midol and send them on their way.

That's some funny stuff! LMAO!

Butch Davis used those same tactics - and MORE - FOR UM - when he was here.

He pulled more tricks than a two dolla ho.

I get your point. I also might’ve been engaging in some hyperbole. No single loss on its own is a rock bottom, nor should single loss reverberate past the next win.

my point was that of all the teams to lose to, fiu was the most embarrassing. They’re our delusional yet plucky little brothers, who live in the same zip code. Their “fans” are all around us, and will never let us forget this loss. If nothing else, we should expect to be the best team in the 305...

So that loss wasn’t an indictment of a coaching staff, just ******* embarrassing. No matter If the U wins or loses tomorrow, all is eventually forgiven. Or forgotten... But losing to FIU?! Fuuuuuck

I'm not so sure about the culture thing as I am Lashlee and King. Neither would be here if we didn't completely **** the sheets last year. Get some good coaching and a great QB, and the culture magically starts to transform.

I said at the time that it was probably the second most embarrassing loss I could remember. The one that hurt much more was getting stomped by UVA in the last game of the Orange Bowl. What an awful way to send the old girl away.

Williams basically quit as a QB in that game and the uh, "gamesmanship", displayed by FIU kept Miami from being able to get momentum. I'm over it now because it was the beginning of the end for Enos and Williams. I can't be too upset about something that resulted in the best possible outcome.

If you dated a girl for a couple months but she did you dirty and cheated on you, then the next girl you met turned out to be the girl you fell in love with and married, are you going to forever seethe with anger about what happened with the first girl or be thankful it happened because if it didn't, you wouldn't met your wife?

For some reason that video made me think of Jeff Thomas and how many explosives plays he would have had this season. He made a bunch of poor decisions but leaving early and missing out on Lashlee and King may be the very worse.

Spin it any way you want. It's a stain.

Go Canes!!!

If we rolled into 2019 with Lashlee as oc, we would have beat the turds by at least two touchdowns.

The only teams with a shot would have been unc and vt. Unc only because we might have been riding too high after Uf and vt if you assume Jarren shyts the bed again. We could easily have took both those games by double digits. No one else on the schedule would have even sniffed a win on us.

The point is, this year’s offense is ZERO surprise to me. I LOVE King and am thrilled to have him, but the way we are playing now is exactly who we have always been. We showed it opening drive on the turds. Enos’ ego wouldn’t let that momentum roll. Florida did not adjust and played baby **** soft. Enos let them off the hook with trash play calling.

People still want to use “ culture” as an excuse for trash coaching, when trash coaching created the bad culture.

I am glad events went down like they did now. Jarren’s immaturity would have cost us eventually, even with Lash running the o. We could have been very good with Jarren, but King makes us SPECIAL.
