Dee Wiggins says.....

DW: “I got one thing to say to ya’ll boys, let’s just keep getting better...”

Something feels different about this team. They are taking it all very seriously. I sincerely hope we keep this same energy all season.

It’s king. He has transformed the mentality of this team. He’s hungry to win and prove himself and that is rubbing off on the guys. Before that the team seemed disconnected. Mainly the offense.

Only a natty washes away the stain of a loss to botch and FIU.

Why is that a stain? Diaz lost to a former NFL head coach who is also one of the GOAT talent evaluators in the history of CFB.

Yeah Miami SHOULD have won, but it's not like Diaz got beat by a Cristobal coached FIU team (which would have been an epic embarrassment).

Bomb, you are one of the more solid posters on the board, and you are asking this question? One of my favorite past times is hurling our past history/tradition into the faces of Miami haters and detractors. This FIU travesty has made that much more difficult.

If we do things right and continue to improve, the FIU travesty will just be a blip on the radar, nothing more. Remember we had a similar or worse loss to FAMU just a couple of years before we won our first natty. Nobody ever brings that up, except me just now.

****. i'm a relatively recent cane (class of 2016) and if you told me we had ever lost to FAMU i probably wouldn't have believed you. proves your point lol

I will always like Butch for giving us the amazing run at the turn of the millennium... but faking cramps was Butch being a b**ch. If a FIU supporter ever brings it us, offer them a Midol and send them on their way.

Thanks for the history and perspective.

While yes, the losses to FIU and LaTech were embarrassing for us as a program, keep in mind that nearly every team, national power and all, has slipped up in their history against someone they had absolutely no reason to lose to. One big difference between us and a lot of them, at least our losses came to FBS teams, a lot lost to FCS teams. Does it make it right? Nope. Does it make it sting a bit less? Yup. Can you use this to shut up anyone who talks **** to you about our CANES? Abso****inglutely!

I said at the time that it was probably the second most embarrassing loss I could remember. The one that hurt much more was getting stomped by UVA in the last game of the Orange Bowl. What an awful way to send the old girl away.

Williams basically quit as a QB in that game and the uh, "gamesmanship", displayed by FIU kept Miami from being able to get momentum. I'm over it now because it was the beginning of the end for Enos and Williams. I can't be too upset about something that resulted in the best possible outcome.

If you dated a girl for a couple months but she did you dirty and cheated on you, then the next girl you met turned out to be the girl you fell in love with and married, are you going to forever seethe with anger about what happened with the first girl or be thankful it happened because if it didn't, you wouldn't met your wife?

Yeah, I mean I personally don’t remember it either.

Somebody told that to me one time and I had to look it up to make sure it was true.

It was.

I think it was somewhere around like 1980 or around that time frame.
