DC candidates

I wonder what the real holdup in hiring the coordinators really is. It would seem that most of the rumored names are done with their season already and it wouldn't be an issue. This leads me to believe that maybe Mario is eyeing an NFL candidate that is still coaching.

The holdups are the early signing period and the Bowls preparation. Also, Mario has to leave some spots open for the guys the future coordinators may want to bring in.

We will probably see some movements starting next week but I wouldn’t be surprised if the staff will be finalized only in January. Relax.

Part of me thinks w/Miami and UF when it comes to filling out our staffs is maybe both schools are just doing the unwritten rule courtesy of letting ESD pass before the moves are to be announced.

Possibly, but that sucks for some kids when their position coach or guy that recruited them bails after they sign on Wednesday

Also I want to mention…..there’s been some NFL guys having great success in college when they come back to coach college.

Mike Macdonald has Michigan defense on fire in his first year after leaving the Ravens.

Mel Tucker

**** even Herm Edwards came back to lead ASU to 8 win seasons.

Not opposed to going the NFL guy route.

Well, kids can bail at any time as well. The point is valid where you better select the school and the program as opposed to the coach.

Part of it is that you have a bunch of big time schools looking at the same pool of candidates so I'm sure all of these targets are weighing their options, not to mention, possibly having ESD, bowl games, CFP, etc.

CIS would be causing **** if we got a guy like Macdonald, how many years has he been a playcaller, we he ever a co-DC, we need 100 years experience in calling plays, lol..

The college game is different than the NFL game in many ways. NFL can be much more multiple on offense and defense because they have way more time, and you have more mature football players who can understand the complexities of formations and coverages.

College players have more going on with school and things they need to balance.

The of course you have the big thing in recruiting. Recruiting is the thing. It makes everything go in college football. I don't care how good of a coach you are, you have to have talent.

I saw a new mock draft released today and
Here are the schools with multiple first round picks:

UGA-3
Michigan-2
Bama-2
Cincinnati-2
Ohio state-2

4 of the 5 in the playoff

Some guys don't want to recruit and babysit commits etc..

It’s why I don’t mind a Ken Dorsey.

Those guys are coaching at the highest level for a reason.
Kentucky also did the get a lower level NFL asst to better success. Stoops hired liam coen from rams to OC, he was WR coach and then became QB coach for them. I think this year is first year they avg over 30 points a game in maybe 5 years.. last year they were bottom at 21. This year were pretty close to us at 33 pts a game.
