I see a lot of people saying Doug Belk and...am I missing something? When did Houston field an elite defense? USF, Cincy, and SMU all dropped 35+ on his defense this year lol. He wasn't DC in 2020 and 2019 but he was Co-DC, and they were terrible those years.

Yeah, the 0 techs can be a problem for us to find in our area, but the 4i's are usually similar in stature to 3s. We can find them.

First rule for a Miami DC - no base 3-4. Point blank. Period. End of discussion.

I'll take anyone running a 4-3 or a 4-2-5 who can call a good game, develop, and recruit.

I know some are still suffering from PTSD when Golden was here, but there are difference styles of the 3-4 that would be successful here.

Call it PTSD if you want to, but I simply think our recruiting base doesn't yield the massive inside bodies we need in most variants of a 3-4. It's a risky move given that. Even our best DT on the roster right now in Leonard Taylor isn't a natural NT for a 3-4.

Most of our local kids are playing in 4-3's or 4-2-5 hybrids in HS. It's a draw for them to play in a similar system when they come to college because they don't have to learn a massive jump in concepts/systems, and they can contribute earlier when they get to campus.

All implementing a 3-4 at Miami does is set us up for having to swim upstream trying to fit the personnel the whole time we're running it.

Vince Kehres from Toledo.

2nd year DC at Toledo, turned them into a top 20 D.

Previous to that was Mount Union head coach for 7 years. Won multiple championships.

Previous to being Mount Union HC, he was there DC for 8 years. won Multiple Championships

He has been a part of 12 NCs at Mount as a player, assistant, and HC.

His pops was HC there for over 25 years.

Played or coached with Matt Campbell, Alex Grinch, Jason Candle, and Nick Srianni (eagles HC)

Our old friend Kul is Toledo’s DL coach so we know that Kehres runs the single gap attacking front that Mario prefers.
