DC candidates

I would love one of Mike Tressel, Zach Arnett, Doug Belk, or Glenn Schumann.

Having a proven commodity is my preference but I honestly think I would take a shot at Schumann. Lanning gets the credit at Georgia but I think Schumann's a big part of that success too. Plus, Muschamp is probably next in line for DC if Lanning gets a HC role.

why did don brown fall off the map? he was up there with venables and 2016-2017 manny for #'s at michigan
Don Brown was DC for Arizona on Jedd Fisch’s staff this year for their 1-11 season.

But he jot got hired as the HC for UMASS.

Don Brown aside from being 66 years old benefitted from being places in the Northeast where the brand of football is conducive to defensive productivity. Being at Maryland, UConn, Boston College etc, it’s much easier to look like a defensive guru because you’re playing against weaker comp & teams that don’t have dynamic offenses & don’t really believe in airing the ball out, so Don Brown’s #’s were inflated.

Same at Michigan, when you play ground & pound cold weather B1G ball, all you have to do is stop the run & you’ll look like a Defensive genius, but the truth is they have much larger margin for error because they rarely ever face prolific passing offenses.

Brad White from Kentucky. Although there's no connection to Cristobal and I'm sure he's being paid decently at UK.

Lots of ways to run hybrid 3-4/4-3 schemes. He's a Dave Aranda disciple. You might recall Aranda was Richts 1st choice for DC. Don't remember fans saying Arandas D wouldn't work at UM.
You don’t run a 3-4 without the requisite NT and 4i’s don’t ******* care if it’s hybrid or not. You run the system that you can find the players for. Our players are fast and undersized cause that’s our crootin backyard.

Win and get to pick who u want then maybe we can change. But 3/4 is not a good look for us based on who we target

We could run Wade Philips one gap 3-4 successfully IMO. Maybe even better than 4-3 given the poverty supply of true DTs.

I hope this is more for defensive staff than DC, but keep an eye on Clint Hurtt (spent the last 8 years in the NFL, mostly with Pete Carroll).
As a what? An offer to be the DC to him is more of the “Miami guy” past.

Still beating the drum for a rising star and Rocky Long disciple Tony white DC at Syracuse.

"A disciple of defensive guru Rocky Long and the two-time Scout.com Mountain West Recruiter of the Year, Tony White was hired as Syracuse’s defensive coordinator in February 2020. He joined the Orange after serving as the cornerbacks coach and defensive passing game coordinator at Arizona State from 2018-19."

2021 Syracuse:

National ranks

Total defense -22nd
TFL-26th
Sacks-16th
YPP-26th

His defense gave up less yards per play than Marcus Freeman's defense at Notre Dame, less than Kentuckys and Iowa states defense YPp.

Maybe and not the worse idea. We just have to run something that is conducive to who we recruit. The 3-3 isn’t the worse cause you don’t need to super big war daddies

It’s more for undersized quick linemen
