Bethel transferred simply because he got passed by some freshmen and was our 6th best CB. I understand that move a little. I still don't understand why derrick smith transferred. Even if he didn't start, he was going to play alot.

Bethel was always a longshot to contribute at DB at Miami. When he committed I said he was a special teams guy and maybe a FS project down the line. He was better WR than DB on film in HS.

These kids of today crack me up. They want everything given to them on a silver platter but they don’t want to put in the required work. Back in the day how many feel good stories were there where someone worked their way up from the scout team to become a star?

It’s sad I remember a Jimmy Johnson interview where he said one of the main reasons he never came out of retirement to coach again was because he could never coach the kids of today.

I can now see exactly what JJ was talking about.

I put this in another thread but I will repeat it one more time.

There is a guy on Canesport who has posted about Derrick Smith during his recruitment and time at Miami. He clearly knows the kid or the family because he posted accurate inside stuff on him. He never claimed to know anything about anyone or anything else which adds to his credibility IMO. He said:

Smith is at home in the Jacksonville area already.
He is academically ineligible.
He knocked up a coed.
He is considering UF as a transfer destination.

I believe this is solid info.
