Sounds like a multitude of things were going on with him. Biggest being he was getting passed up, and the new DC really didn't pull any punches in a recent presser about guys not doing what they were coached to do and making mistakes.

Freelancing and getting beat will land you in a coaches doghouse more than just getting beat but following the techniques and fundamentals being coached. Sounded like the former with him and possibly others that have bounced.

Change of scenery may be good for him, but think we need to be more forward thinking at this point.

I'd take this Conrad in a heartbeat:

1. Pause

2. I don’t think he has any remaining eligibility, but with the new rules, who knows.

3. He was 6’3” and 255. 80-100 lbs underweight by today’s standards. Let that sink in.

4. He’s a take on disposition alone. I think we could slide him to DT.

From reading the article, he didn't even voluntarily leave. He was dismissed, which is pretty bad. FSU ain't too high on talent right now so things must have been pretty bad.
