Day After the Storm: Wake Forest Observations

I wonder if OP has seen the other “Top” teams in the nation? Every team has flaws. It’s like we either blow every team out or we suck lol.
Except our biggest flaw is a season killer. Our OL hasn’t dominated against much inferior competition. The fact that 65 lines up all night should be a massive indictment on our OL personnel.
SJ has not been good but he has 3 starts in his career. If he improves to average like Buchanon because he was trash first game too. If he improves to average we can win the title. He obviously needs to improve and he will.

With the injuries depth is being tested and we are finding different ways to win that’s important too.
He has less than zero chance at improving- his physical limitations are not coachable. Couple that with Rodriguez- and we are fucccced. That is easily the worst guard/center combo in the power 4. A weakling and midget trying to block average college players.

How do you figure this zero chance of improving? Because he’s 6’2 (listed)?

I think we got banged up on offense and that’s why they went in a shell in the second half. Mensah looked like he got hit in the ribs or something and it looked like Dawson was protecting him.

Our secondary didn’t look great but with the injuries you sort of get that.

Our interior line just isn’t good enough. SJ is what he is and that’s been said but I think what hasn’t been said as much is they need to communicate better on offense and defense. So in a way I’m more worried about center.

On defense i want to see much more communication and more swarm.

On offense I want to see more communication, no more missed line calls, no more bad snaps, and we need Cantwell/Congdon to figure it out faster because the starting five from last night aren’t talented enough- like someone said but it bears repeating…if you can’t get push against Wake you aren’t getting it against Georgia, so coaches need to figure it out.

Love your first point, Dawson took the foot off the gas and I truly hope he and Mario realize that was our mistake last year and we need to have the same intensity in both halves.

I also think ant Barkate more involved, with Mali banged up we looked pedestrian and out of sync. Go more 3 wr stacked on one side to create the 1-1 matchup on the other side.

Defense: thought we did a great job with pressure. Tough to **** on the corners with the injuries but we need to improve the communication in the backend, we were getting worked on crossers and weren’t passing guys off and had some blown coverages.

With that said, wake is a good football team, and we worked them on the road, just must play a complete game.
