Dawson is what prevented us from a title. We probably need a new OC

Not fair.. Jacolby George was ALWAYS open. Other guys got open. Our best wideouts this season couldn’t get Seperation. But they were alone the guys who we could depend on. Gotta bite the bullet. The scheme always looks better with better talent for sure, he could have done a better job. Not his best first half but he had to reset.
You just made my point lol

Beck did not have ability to hit some of the deeper routes. He just didn’t have the zip or anticipation. If Mensah can give us 75% Ward and Dawson can give us playoff rushing attack with the outside zones, we will cook. The same OC that got us the #1 offense last year is the same one that got us to the championship this year. He’s not perfect, but he has the ability
I’m sorry, but it’s time for Dawson to go

It’s easy to nitpick play calls that don’t work, but this offense was limited all year and it’s more personnel related than play calling related.

Our passing game beyond 20 yards was basically non-existent. Next year with Mensah is going to look more like 2024.

Dawson wasted a whole half like he did V UL and SMU. It was the same gameplan. He is not the worst OC but I think he gets overwhelmed by the stage. We put up all our yards and points in 1 half only when his back was against the wall does he call plays like he has any sense of what tf going on. Even Heatherman seemed too small for the stage with those big cushion on those pitch and catch

There is a diferencia between limited and non existent for a half

When you can’t run the ball and can’t throw the ball/get separation that’ll happen.

I know we want to control games but mixing tempo would have been effective in hindsight.

Look we needed more explosiveness on offense this year from WR's not named Toney. CJ is a possession guy and Keelon turned into a possession guy. Jojo and Josh Moore are burners but the coaches trusted 0 & 7 more which is fine. Our offense was solid all year, not worldbeaters by any means but more speed would keep defenses honest.

We definitely need a new OC.

Time and again he wastes plays and possessions with his unimaginative, conservative bull****.

We went from not being able to move the ball on Ole Miss, OSU and Indiana to lighting them up and having them on skates. Just because he got in his bag a little bit.

He doesn't develop QBs and he doesn't consistently call good games. It's time for us to mutually part ways.
Exactly. No one is saying he’s terrible. He’s actually a pretty good OC. I just think, based on where we’re trying to take this program and how we’re projecting ourselves as a team, good might not be good enough anymore.

At some point, if you want to be elite, you need better. And that’s why I’ve said if you keep Dawson, you’re going to have to get elite talent around him.

The game played out exactly like the Louisville game. I thought i was in the twilight zone. Same bland A gap runs. We are a running team, we should have 35 different formations running the ball. Our passing game we can say we are limited. No true outside #1 and no TE. Being stopped in the run game, we have mo excuses

Some real idiots who don't know a lick about football are on here. Sure Dawson has his warts, but did you complain the last 2 months when we were kicking *** and taking names? Sure, the first half was forgettable, but don't forget we had a chance to win the game at the end. We lost that game with the blocked punt and missed field goal. Last I checked, Dawson was the OC, not the special teams guy. Was Dawson responsible for O'Conner getting roasted all night (dropping an INT in the end zone, and giving up 2 4th down back shoulder throws)? Blaming Dawson is such a lazy thing to do.

Real talk we had one guy in the passing game. CJ Daniels could not consistently get separation and struggled 2nd half of the year. Marion is a returner who we used as a go to guy in a lot of key situations when defenses were keying in on Toney.

We need legitimate downfield threats in the passing game to open up the field for Toney. We did not even have reliable TE play this year.

The design on the Toney TD was there, and on the Fletcher TD with the fake pitch to Toney in motion.

Dawson’s fault is his lack of feel at times and inability to adjust early when things aren’t going his way. But after the first half, I have no complaints with the game he called
I do have a complaint after we scored in the 2nd half… in no circumstances should we have gone 3 and out twice. You can not do that after scoring and your defense stepping up 2 times in a row.

Hard to say. He's no Brohm thats for **** sure but how many OC's are? Did Joe Brady scheme up a bunch during 2019 or did we just have some of the most elite WR's and QB ever? Did Dawson scheme up much last year with the #1 offense or was it just all Cam? Lack of creativity and gameplanning really killed us in all 3 losses though and that is on Dawson though.

Beauty of Mario is he croots and builds the roster. He will deliver any OC a very good OL (you could argue elite at this point), $4M+ QB, and some weapons.

I can roll with Dawson but we really need 1-2 better analyst to help with schemes and gameplans. Shouldnt be that hard to find (and we have the money), but is Dawson too stubborn to take the help?

The offense is the only reason why we beat Ole Miss and had a shot at the end against Indiana. Heatherman disappeared when we needed him the most. But he’s untouchable, so “fire Dawson”.

It is perplexing why we so often go through stretches where we do nothing on offense. You cannot spot a team like Indiana a half of zero offense.

Can someone elaborate on what we did differently in half #2? What adjustments were made on our side - if any - and is this a matter where Dawson is slow or stubborn to make changes.

Indiana literally went through stretches 13 hours ago where they did nothing. This isn’t unique to Miami.

Nah I'd say it was ST

Yes it was, but if Dawson calls a different game first half, we have better probabilities to overcome the 10 points. Just my two cents worth. Why is this team’s in-game adjustment worse than pulling a wisdom tooth? He constant gets away from what works and gets cute.
