Dawson is what prevented us from a title. We probably need a new OC

There’s a lot of ***gots to fire and roast after this game.

He’s not one of them.

On the Beck interception, two guys were open underneath and there was as zero pressure since they rushed three and kept a pseudo spy there.

If Beck doesn’t go for it all there, it’s another 1st down.

Dawson is such an enigma. He had no feel in the first half but he made adjustments at half to give us a shot.

His scheme works but not sure what he can do to work on his feel.

I'd put more on 87 inept special teams play.
 
Well I guess we gotta blame someone. Glad we aren't blaming Beck (yet?)

Why can't the second half be looked at in a positive light? That we made halftime adjustments.

This game came down to some penalties and special teams imo.

Dawson called a good game overall. Needed a td inside the 5 and did a great play call. Kept us in the game.

Yea he’s a very bi polar OC. Sometimes I’m like wow very nice play call or drive. Other times he’ll leave us saying wtf a whole quarter/half or game

nothing is guaranteed man, that was our chance. Crazy thing is we probably helped start an IU dynasty by losing.

Like I said, he’s not terrible. But if you’re trying to be a championship-level team, I’m probably looking for a new OC. I want an OC that runs multiple formations and actually schemes guys open. People keep saying we don’t have talent, but the funny part is our talent is basically the only reason we score at all. The problem is the offense is just way too inconsistent because we’re not really scheming anyone open. It feels like we’re winning on talent, not design.

I agree, chances like this don't come around every year. All in all, this season will move us forward toward being dominant year in year out

Nah. IU had everything go right, wont happen again. Not that we will be back next year, not having mesidor and Bain means we probably take a step back. But we can be a playoff team.

Dawson is a G5 coordinator. This stage was too big for him.

going to be tough with Texas Tech doing what they are doing and us missing on guys. If we dont close with Wilson the LT whatever tf his name is and the QB we in trouble. Need all three
 
I’m not the biggest Dawson fan at all but if you put last years offense with this years defense do you think the game ends the same? He has plenty to improve but saying he’s why we lost is a stretch imo.
 
My issue with Dawson

- offense schemes up the slot unbelievable, but is not creative for our outside receivers. Unless they can just out match guys and create separation in their own they’re almost useless. We barely do anything to get our outside guys schemed open.

- just because we want to play a certain way, doesn’t mean you can’t use tempo early on. The creativity and tempo he used second half shoulda been used in the 2nd/3rd drive of game
