Dawson is what prevented us from a title. We probably need a new OC

Dawson calls plays like he using the “ask Madden” selection.

Why do we never run on 2nd and 8 even when we averaging 5 yards a carry?

These is just no cohension in his apporach.

He takes too many plays for granted.

That series I believe in the second quarter when we called 3 str8 pass plays was malpractice.

His playcalls and the play design are also lacking.

On the final INT that is a terrible throw by Beck to even try to make let alone crazy inaccurate.

But the play design (and call) vs cover 2 easily lead to it.
Ask madden is better

If we are going to keep him as OC, we really need to make sure we land top end talent at Tight end, and the receiver position. He is not terrible but he is not going to consistently out scheme you
Early on in the season he would not give up on the run yet in the national championship game he gave up on the run a little too early. We were throwing like we had Cam Ward back there. Beck is a game manager at best. We learned the hard way not to count on him. Hope it's not another 2 decades before we are back in the title game.

Hard to judge Dawson without a receiving corps.

Toney is a stud but he can’t beat you outside. You can bracket him and live to see another day because he doesn’t thrive downfield.

Your tight ends are either out of shape or slow as molasses with butterfingers. (Bauman)

Daniel’s is an oozing possession receiver who scares no one.

Who’s the downfield threat, Marion? Dawson had two hands tied behind his back.
Its hard to be a downfield threat when your OC calls 5 yard button hooks for a whole half.

They were sitting in zone all 1st half which btw is how everybody knew Indiana would come out and play and we couldnt do ****.

1 throw over 15 yards in a whole half is not acceptable.

How did we not have any zone beaters ready from game prep? Why does it take you a whole half to run outside?

Some of these questions ppl have been asking all year.

So they stopped playing zone in the second half?

It took too long to adjust. I agree.

No, Just no. This one is going to hurt for a long time but no, Dawson didn't lose it. Special teams cost us more if we're looking at it objetively. We scored 21 against a team that gives up a lot less per game, and had a shot to win but Beck left his last pass short instead of long. Dawson isn't a problem.

Wasn't perfect? The first half was an abomination!

This isn't a noon kickoff against Wake. It's the fuggin natty!

If Indiana comes out and beats you, fine. Tip your hat to them. That's not what happened.. The offense, specifically, looked like a Micky Mouse outfit in the first half. That was self inflicted.
But you can’t **** on the guy and then just turn a blind eye to the second half. It’s completely disingenuous and short sighted. The game is 60 minutes. Not 30. We can ***** all offseason about the first half. But enough adjustments were made that we had a chance to win.

If you are criticize the guy at least admit that the second was drastically better and worked in our favor. It’s not like IU just ****ed down their leg. We utilized our best player who IU was keying on every play and still came back.

We definitely need a new OC.

Time and again he wastes plays and possessions with his unimaginative, conservative bull****.

We went from not being able to move the ball on Ole Miss, OSU and Indiana to lighting them up and having them on skates. Just because he got in his bag a little bit.

He doesn't develop QBs and he doesn't consistently call good games. It's time for us to mutually part ways.
I feel the same way, I don’t think he is a bad OC but he is not what Miami needs. We have no creativity with our run game, we to stagnant on offense.

A decent OC schemes them better. We had them on a few concepts we all talked about leading into the game and once we see them second half we light it up.
Too little too late but he is one of many reasons why we lost.
We beat ourselves but part of that is in coaching

To be fair Heatherman's soft coverage against slow receivers was as egregious as it gets. I have faith he'll learn but that was just as detrimental. Most importantly Mario let them coach scared. Hope they remember this feeling

If the game is 60 minutes why did Dawson waste 30 of them?

The fact that the 2nd half was drastically better is proof positive why he should be fired.

Exactly this they didnt do anything special i just cant wrap my mind around how we consistently started slowly all year.

How did you not have a plan to attack this zone after 11 days of prep.

Every time I say, Dawson is a lethargic playcaller the first response is always well. He had the number one offense

Cam Ward had the number one offense and it’s amazing at this stage of the game plays are still coming in late. We’re running the clock down to 2 to 3 seconds per play.

Also, the lack of true RPO in 2026 is crazy.

IU just won the national title essentially running nothing but RPO.

Every other team has it as an important part of the offense.

And we rarely ever run it. The play is either a predetermined run or pass.
Beck was also terrified of running it. I don't understand.

OL didn’t do any favors in the first half. Stupid penalties. Couldn’t even get a drive started. Outside WR is mediocre

I don’t fully blame Dawson

His down fall is he sucks at scripting early drives and most OCs thrive there. His in game feel and playcalling after he gets a drive going are immaculate. 2nd to none in college. The malicat stuff wasn’t good for a few games, aside from that, he’s the best 7-10 play drive play caller we’ve had in 30 years
Predictable play calling did us no favors
