Dawson Did It Again

In fairness Alot of that is because of the players, you thinking he would have the #1 offense if he were at rutgers?
NO ONE WOULD HAVE THE #1 OFFENSE AT RUTGERS, YOU NEED PLAYERS WITH ACTUAL TALENT IN ORDER TO HAVE A DOMINANT UNIT.

Find me an OC that puts together a dominant offense with D level talent, and I'll show you someone that is likely not going to be collecting college paychecks for long. In fact, it's unlikely you'll find said OC, because they don't exist. Even a high end playcaller will need some talent in order to have a good unit. Mike Leach is one of the best pure playcallers I've ever seen, even he needed guys like Michael Crabtree in order to get the most out of his system.

I wouldn't go that far.

I'd wish him well if he lands a HC job in the offseason, but I've rarely watched his O and thought "wow he's completely outschemed the opposition".

Good OC calling plays for very, very good players.
If you watched today and didn’t see that then idk what you guys are looking for. The standard dawson gets held to is insane

It’s always a caveat with dawson. On defense last year two first round edge rushers was never used to diminish what heatherman did.

Now mali is being used to diminish dawson, even tho X was an all American before he got here, and had 1k the year before that..and tank dell had over1k the year before that.

Nothing is more infuriating than an OC that doesn't get your playmakers the ball enough. So for the people saying we are being carried by our great players, that is a good thing.
it’s funny, as a titans fan the last really good offense we had was 2020 under arthur smith. and so many people hate arthur smith but titans fans loved him that year. you know why? because he spammed derrick henry and AJ brown with no apology, and it worked.

when you have great players, you use them!

Dawson would be hired instantaneously at about 130 FBS programs were he to leave. We’re lucky to have him (although we pay him well). Very, very good coach.
IIRC ….Don’t he have a couple skeletons in his closet (which is probably more of the reason that he hasn’t gotten the call yet)?

One thing that might not get talked about enough with him as an OC is the adjustments he has made for each of our starting QBs the past few years. It is an underrated aspect of his time as our OC. He obviously teaches his system really well to the new QBs but also adjusts the scheme for them.

He still confounds me when he has his head up his *** for a few series in some of our games. Like WF this year, A&M last year, etc..

“OC gets the ball to his playmakers”

Except when we had the ball at our 1 yard line. I was irrationally highly ****ed off at it at the time given the score and players in the game.
He was probably “instructed” during that possession. “Whatever u do….Don’t give up 6, right here. Just try to get us enough to punt it out.”
