Davon Mitchell 5* TE from Los Alamitos, CA Hits the Portal after Reclassifiying

Kid might be a 5 star but I didn’t see either Brevin, Skinner or Arroyo on film.

If ok outspent or straight beat us, I’m good and really don’t understand the complaining.

Imo this is a dline year and the results in that position group is what this class is about.
And I feel that it’s even a priority above receiver

The way I see it, if we land some savages at receiver and tight end, but miss on dline then it’s status quo.

The best friends of skill position players are trench monsters.
An elite LOS makes everyone look better. If the LOS is trash then no matter how elite the skill positions are your not gonna be able to maximize or showcase their talent

Everyone says that we have to show on the field in order to get a dude like Ellis Robinson. In my opinion, the best way to land him is to sign a ridiculous dline class.

Now I understand that Bama and uga and osu just get the best players available at all positions regardless but you have to understand that they’ve been recruiting at a high level for many years and have depth at all positions. They also have trophies and conference championships. Money alone isn’t gonna just make everyone drop everything to come here. Believe it or not those schools don’t have to outspend for everyone. Some kids will drop and even return checks if they get a green light from those schools.

They simply have an advantage that we don’t have and that’s at the kids don’t have to wait to the end of the season to see what the team did.

Definitely sucks....but we just signed riley williams
This is the attitude that keeps you middle of the pack. No top team worries about stacking, except Miami? I get the need to justify but this is played out. He got a bigger incentive. I guess the work put in by Miami's staff didn't get it done. That's it. Miami missed on a guy that was 1 on their board.

The staff didn’t feel good here. I said from beginning they thought it was a toss up and had no idea what he would do.

Mitchell had a good NIL meeting with our people last night but even then they knew it would be a back-and-forth deal, which is the same thing OU 247 reported.
D - I respect you and your site. There is some gaslighting going on though. There are more people on this forum than you and Cribs that are viewed as insiders, right or wrong . This is the most prominent Miami board on Al Gore’s internet. I will say that you nor cribby came out with anything more than 50/50. However, the board insiders that have been given a platform, or at the very least allowed to present themselves as connected posters, were presenting different info as late as yesterday night, including openly ridiculing posters with different insights. The staff is either feeding them **** based on incorrect feelings or they are openly trolling. It was celebration gif szn for 3 days. I think you can understand how the masses got wound up and thought it was better than just 50/50? There are plenty of receipts

As @Cribby would say—post the receipts then. When you say “insiders are saying” it discredits everyone even people who didn’t say anything about it.

To be honest I only really put stock into what @Cribby says because he’s usually pretty conservative and I’d rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed after getting my hopes up on some BS

No disrespect to anyone else who has sources and posts here but I don’t follow the forum closely enough to know who is right and wrong with **** so I just go off who I know is solid

I'm not saying we're not trying to stack, yes this is 100% a miss....but the same fans that's moping about not landing this kid are the same ones that can't stand the sight of a 2 te set

Mitchell is a great talent, but I think I wanted him (BIG PAUSE) more from a momentum and national perception standpoint. This hurts, but TE is pretty far down on our list of needs moving forward.
Agree with that. Mojo is valuable and he would’ve boosted us.

Onward. We’ll hit on a couple before month’s end.

There seems to be a disconnect between recruiting, paying for players, and the reality of who you are as a team.

To say you’re just gonna open a check book and land a top 3 class is short sighted.

You have to build a foundation and not just stack talent.
Talent is a word that gets thrown around like it’s some easy commodity to obtain and properly project.

The last thing you want at Miami is to have tamu “talent” and tamu results.
The admin and the booster base would destroy Mario and the fanbase will implode.
Look at this place just because we lost a tight end.

Now think of this without orange and green glasses on.
Who needs this player more? OU or UM.
Also, top teams don’t have to pay as much. It’s just that simple. Sometimes these schools can pay more for a certain player if they feel that it’s a need for the team. And maybe they can afford to outspend because they didn’t have to pay as much or not even at all for other elite players simply because of who they are as a program.

As far as recruiting please tell me what school with our recent past and **** poor performance against p5 schools is recruiting at this level?

I don’t think people here can appreciate what landing both Muigoa and Sampson meant. As well as landing the d ends and backers. All of those dudes were being heavily recruited but the best teams in cfb and teams with deep deep pockets.
Mauigoa should’ve been the number one player overall imo. And to also land a player with just as high potential at the same position is just a remarkable recruiting achievement.

We are recruiting against the elite of cfb in terms of tradition, money, and recent results.
Don’t expect all W’s.
We’ve beaten some of the top teams for talent last year and also this cycle and it ain’t over.
No one lands all their targets.

Let’s just hope we land a nice chunk of who we want at dline.

Any improvement on the field will mean lot for the 25 cycle and put us closer to the position of being able to stack talent without having to over spend at positions we don’t really need to.
