David Yost Philosophy

Here’s my guy and why:
Note TE absolutely eat in this O and what separates it from other air raids:

I'm 100% on board with a hire of Yost but its not gonna happen because Miami is gonna Miami. Also I like Addazio for OL/Co-OC/Running Co.

Something similar to this but not this simple. They run the same personnel 97% of the time. That works when you're more talented than the team you're playing but not when you face a top dog. That offense will never get us beyond winning the coastal.

We typically have better athletes than the teams he’s coached and a lot better defense. Clemson May have more of them but we can match up well first team.

Should worry about winning vs the less talented teams (almost every game on our schedule) and winning the Coastal every year vs anything beyond that at this point.

I like yost, gleason, lebby, and lashlee the most. Would be elated with any of them. Will be curious to see where Addazio lands.

Given where we have been for 15 years and the current college football landscape, I will take that.

I went to Utah State undergrad and have season tickets so I watched every game he coached there. A few thoughts:

1. His offenses are a blast to watch and put pressure on every aspect of a defense. The pace is unreal and he attacks vertically and at all levels of the middle of the field.
2. TEs and RBs are heavily involved in the pass game.
3. His screen game and feel when to call it is excellent. Utah State would seemingly get a 25+ yard play off a screen every game his last year there.
4. He was basically in 11 personnel exclusively his last year there and they would rotate the RB generally every series.
5. Virtually no substituting during a series. Maybe before a third down but rarely. Would rotate between series though.
6. Had a great feel for calling a game at that speed and knew how to sequence plays really well. Their OC this year tried to go at the same pace and was just really bad at it.

I would love to see him here. TEs and slot receives feast in his offense and he knows how to get the defense in a bad look and keep them there. Might take some time to get going, his first year at Utah State was just ok but Matt Wells was still pretty heavily involved in the offense, but once he does we would have a fun and efficient offense. I have not understood why we don't incorporate pace more into our offense, particularly given the heat and humidity teams would have to deal with. The pace and altitude at Utah State just decimated defenses.

Everyone here was sucking off kendall briles including myself last year and then he went to fspoo and did zilch. Who’s to say this guy wouldn’t be the same? Why do you guys feel he would be successful here? Would briles be successful here? These offenses look great until they run into a defense with a pulse

Him coming here is akin to me getting excited about PS2 and TC coming here. I don’t know why we even bring this up because it’s never going to happen. Next time please open a thread about Bellichick being my guy. We have as much of a shot of him coming here as Yost.

Kendall Briles is a lip sticked version of Jon Richt. Yost hasnt been the shadow of his father and built legit offenses with amazing production.
