David Lake

Only because my boy @k9cane operates best when he's left alone to wax poetically of the Hurricanes of yesteryear.

Isa should really unplug D$'s mic when Steve joins the show. Let the Korean Sensation free

Just so I have the opportunity to speak about it. And in case anyone actually cares to know:

I have three littles. Ages 11, 9, 7.

They're involved with so many things nowadays we are doing something most evenings.

The podcast appearances started as "hey, we need someone to fill all this time we have. Can you join this week and just talk about ___?"

For reasons that still amaze me, the response was fairly positive when I came on. Honestly, quite humbling to some Midwestern idiot to get the opportunity to appear on a show as large as CIS and have people ask for me to appear more often. I'm so appreciative of that and it will always hold a soft spot for me.

Then businesses/fans actually wanted to "sponsor" me to come on. Again, that is something I would never have believed anyone would want to do.

With that, all internally, I brought pressure upon myself to deliver a great product and prepare for appearances. I felt an obligation to anyone giving me money to appear to put time in and work hard.

At the same time, I was fortunate enough that my actual career had taken real steps forward and that included $$$, but also...stress.

As the CIS appearances grew, again, for reasons I truly appreciate, there was an opportunity to do more on the podcast.

With that, more stress. I decided something needed to be reduced for me to remain in balance. I chose the podcast to go.

It was my decision. @DMoney has done so much for me and I felt like I owed it to him to tell him how I felt rather than mailing it in and impacting the quality of his show. He understood.

So now, I pretty much do it as I have time and he's stated I can join as I have time and mental capacity to do so.

Honestly, you can't really ask for someone to handle it any better than he does.
Excuses are like poems ... their for sissies and nobody wants to hear them.

I used to listen to the CIS podcast and YT channel several times a week. Nowadays, it just feels like Danny is flooding the space with content for content. A lot of topics being discussed over and over again. To each his own.
The Lofton takes will continue until morale improves!

Orig, I do a substack at stevekimboxing.substack.com

There is a lot of boxing, but I do cover other things like college football, NFL, pop culture. There is both free and premium content.

Im also on the Coach JB Show (YouTube) every Tue and Thurs for about 45 minutes. Thanks for the interest
Hey thanks brother. I used to be a big time boxing fan. My dad always got the papervire fights in the 90s and early 2000s. Tyson-Holyfiekd, George Foreman, De La Hoya, Whitaker, Mosley, Manny P, Whitaker, Hopkins, and of course Money Mayweather. I haven’t watched since he passed.

If I were to pick up watching boxing now, where should I start? Which weight is the most contested? Who are the biggest fighters and where do I stream them?

gotta be a contract thing - otherwise why stop right before FSU week with a popular pod

then again, who gives someone a contract that ends in the middle of a season so maybe not

just weird stuff

So for the 247 Miami-FSU preview, it's Gaby and Bud Elliott. Something is definitely "off" with Lake and that site. He did write an article today for them but the signs point to a split in progress.
Lake also has "littles". His daughter is apparently quite an athlete

David Lake taking shots at Bud Elliot was not on my bingo card lmao
This seemed like a tell to me.

When I heard it I laughed because he was ******** with a high profile fsu guy. Then I got the notification that Bud Elliot was Gabby’s guest on through the smoke for an FSU preview.

I like gabby on social media and message boards. He hedges a lot but he also takes some chances and I consume a lot of hurricanes content so the more the merrier but his podcasting host chops are perhaps the worst I’ve ever heard. He can’t ask a question. It takes him 2 and a half minutes to ask Bud what are FSUs strengths. Say way less please.

Stumbled on a podcast by Geo and caneswear that had Tolbert Bain and Bennie Blades (with thorpe award shining in background for the people who forget about him) , they had Pat Surtain Sr. as guest and trick daddy was on in first half and Daryl Porter Sr. was on second half.. Trick alone had me rolling as he was talking **** about Noles but Pat Surtain stories about recruiting KJ Bolden and trying to coach against Canes last year was hilarious also..

Geo’s podcast is pretty good. I’ve listened to it a few times and it’s decent.

I just listened to Gaby‘s latest podcast. He needs a lot of refinement and a lot of help. It was a constant bombardment of words, data points, on and on. He talks too fast and doesn’t allow for people to process the information. I quit 15 minutes in.

Gaby, slow down. Uffff.

I also don’t buy it that David Lake just decided to take a break from the pod especially with FSU week here. Something is off. I don’t buy it. Maybe it’s Gaby saying that he deserves a promotion and his own podcast. Maybe that’s the case. But after listening to Gaby, he can’t do that by himself. And he’s simply not good at it.
