David Feely Expected to be hired as SC Coach

Let me get this straight, a bunch of people on a message board who have no idea how any of these S&C coaches work are complaining or happy about the picking of a S&C coach that they have no idea how that person works?
Agree to an extent.

I was a strength coach for a JUCO, have my bachelors in Exercise & Sports Science, and was certified via NASM.

I’m not pretending to have all the answers, but some of us do know a bit about S&C and can call a spade a spade from a mile away. I was never a fan of Gus because he had little experience as the main guy in charge, and his mentor was John Thomas ( old PSU strength coach who’s methods and program are outdated - John spoke openly about his training philosophies).

Kurt Hester’s background is impressive. He’s been exposed to some of the best strength coaches in athletics.

He was hired by Skip Bergman (who knows more about how to hire a good strength coach than most CFb coaches), and helped build those 90s guerilla ball LSU squads.

From where I sit, Feeley is a much better option than Felder. Feeley learned from Jay Butler, who’s one of the best in the biz.

And for fun....

the true test of this guy as an S&C coach is in year 2 do we look like like Bama, Clemson, OSU, Whisky etc.
UGA made a huge leap S&C wise in year 2 of Kirby...... if we do not see the change in players its the same old same
& we will get pushed around by any top notch outfit
look for TN. to look different this year as this is year2 of a saban type S&C program

Loved Gus but those back to back career ending knock injuries made me wonder if it was related to football or workouts. Pure speculation on my part.

No way that can't be right

CIS porsters say he's terrible!

Not sure I have ever seen football scoop say anything bad about a hire. That said not a single person on this board can say if its a good or bad hire until the results come in. **** it isn't like hiring a coach were we can see some tangible past results to judge by. Cochran at Bama was a guy in his 20's who had spent the prior 3 years as a strength coach for an NBA franchise. Granted he learned at LSU under Saban and Moffit and that carries some weight. Saban though knew he would be good and didn't just get the guy with the best resume. Hopefully Manny shows he can spot coaching/SC talent.

Why is it a bad hire?

Everyone thinks highly of the guy except for the morons on this website because he's not cartoony like the Louisiana tech guy.

Oh BTW temple is a better job than Louisiana tech

Football scoop is 100% legit. They would have no incentive to lie

If they said Collins offered him a spot than he did

Good hire Manny

Hester is a level 10 hire

this is a level 4 hire

This is why the U stays mediocre

Good job Manny.

You're doing amazing following in Richts footsteps
How is Hester a level ten hire?
Because big bag Louisiana tech is such a big physical team that imposes their will?

So you're saying you have no idea about Feeley. Gotcha

It’s safe to say none of us have any experience or knowledge of who’s a good STrength and Conditioning Coach or not. But dude was an assistant SCC at South Carolina an SEC school so it’s not that unimpressive
have not been strong in S&C area since Moffet left, take a look at LSU thats what a great S&C program can do for team

I came across numerous threads complaining about Moffit and him being old and outdated on LSU boards. They pop up every time they lose and the fans feel they were pushed around.

Never said it was a bad hire. Looking at his resume and previous stints, its a very underwhelming hire. He COULD turn out to be good. All i have to go off is the resume and doesn't seem to be at the level that Miami needs.
