David Feely Expected to be hired as SC Coach

Weelll...S&C coaching have as much to do with developing players from a physical standpoint as much as coaches do from an ability standpoint. It’s why big time programs spend as much as they do on S&C and nutrition. So yea, technically they do have an impact on the outcome of games.

you guys talking about the 6-6 season at FIU? wasnt that the year they won their first bowl ever? seems like a great year at the time for FIU

Weeeellll you might want to read what I said. I said they don't have nearly as much an outcome.

Not to mention that TONS of S&C work is being done during drills, under the coaching staff.

S&C coach is the most important hire a staff can make. They spend the most amount of time with the kids. This is a very underwhelming hire, what's the point of getting rid of Felder when you're just replacing him with a guy who's experience is just as bad

I thought we were getting Hulk Hogan, because I made it up entirely in my head with zero credible sources whatsoever, brother.

It's the Gruden complex. Fanbase throws around ridiculous names, gets attached to them (even though they were never realistic options), and is disappointed when someone of THAT caliber is not hired.

It's totally irrational behavior.

The HERD!!!

Felder was a joke. I knew that from the get-go. I like this hire if it was our 3rd or 4th option.

7-6 season and he was there three years. So you’re saying he had a 33.3% success rate in getting those players physically ready? That’s not a very strong argument kiddo

That's true but this guy isn't exactly a huge upgrade other than just being there.. Wish we would have grabbed a Hatch or Moffitt disciple.. blah, knew I shouldn't get my hopes up

Hi kids! I'm Mr. McFeely!

Noooo, you just don’t seem to understand and are undervaluing the importance of a good S&C coaching staff. They develop the players to be able to do those things. I’d thise players are fat slow and weak, it doesn’t matter what scheme or what kind of ability they have(always exceptions) if they can’t hang. Yes, they coaches drill the players sure, but this coaches primary goal isn’t to physically develop players at that point, that’s the S&C’a job. It’s why players typically don’t get faster or stronger in season. That’s done in the preseason. Another way to look at it is take James Toney. Probably one of the most naturally gifted fighters of the modern era. He was born to box. He can outbox lesser opponents and even better ones on sheer ability alone. However, later on in his career his fat *** was never in shape. Had he been, he’d be a household name. So yes, they have a high impact on the outcome of games.

No, I'm not.

First, your comparisons to boxing are ludicrous, as it's an individual sport.

Second, you take S&C Coach A vs. S&C Coach B. They do things differently, but both incorporate proper lifting and cardio regimens. In the absence of the same nutritional regimen, you can't compare the two. And I guarantee a guy from Temple doesn't have the same resources from a nutrition standpoint as a guy from Ohio State.

Then, you look at the big picture. Practice, 1-on-1's, all the stuff that happens on the field and not in the weight room, but impacts S&C to a crazy degree, and has little if nothing to do with the S&C Coach.

Now you're gonna tell me because S&C A prefers pyramid sets and S&C B prefers alternating lifting light, mid and heavy, that one approach is going to make that much difference over the other?

The answer is no.

Horrible. I'm sure people will spin this too, like the spin for Ponce when he was the first name rumored for OC. "Miami guy" etc...
