The layering of depth is what has suffered for all these schools, UGA, Bama, Ohio etc. Now the backup is not an underclass 5 star. Their top talent is gonna still be elite. I really think we could still stack and elite multi depth team but only if you strike the right balance with high school and portal evaluations.
I think at this point the first part of your post is unquestionably correct. My point was regarding HS recruiting and how regardless this notion they aren’t paying, they finished #2 in 2025 and #6 in 2026. Now mind you that 2026 ranking was still a score of 292. The data says that on paper they are not struggling as the post I replied to had suggested.

I think his dad is regarding relationships over everything. He’s a big CMR fan. CMR was a big influence for him. Not saying CMR is pushing him here. But JT could be winning the relationship battle. Plus he’s got two guys he’s molded into decent draft picks in Bain and Mesidor.

That argument held weight for a bit. But let a school overpaying, i.e. us, Texas, Oregon, etc start putting guys in the league. The cheaper route to UGA begins to loose its luster.
This is where I think we start making inroads with these bigger players. Mario’s proof of concept is beginning to hold. CFP games, high drafts picks, top level NIL, it’s all the makings of landing these guys.

They are one of the most talented rosters in the country and once again right in the mix for the national championship. So far, they seem to be doing just fine.
