2027 David "DJ" Jacobs 5* DE from Roswell, GA (Blessed Trinity Catholic) Commits to OSU

OSU has all the money they need when they need it. In this instance the number one overall player is signed and delivered to Miami and to get him Day has to make a phone call for a blank check to sign him.

This exact scenario played out with Jeremiah Smith. ROI on that deal was pretty good for them. Probably wasn’t a hard sell given the upcoming game and their hatred of Miami. They know we don’t consider that title in 02 legit and they resent us for it. Anytime they can stick it to us they will and we feel the same.
DJ on Saturday told our WHOLE staff he was coming. JJ told our staff then night before. I dont know what happened with DJ but JJ was promised about 600k on signing day but we would have matched it. I think with JJ the fact we didn't have a qb played into it. He was sold on cam and cam was playing with the NFL draft at that point. People also forget we snatched Justin Scott and Marquis Lightfoot from them. Also, they wanted Fletcher and Lyle.

It's not like the shoe hasn't been on the other foot on the other D-line. OSU gets some revenge for Lightfoot and Scott.

JT And CMC will keep grinding and we'll keep landing Edge studs.

We have arguably the best freshman in the country on both sides of the ball. Bryce was a kid no one on here aside from @coachmacho and a few others wanted and he lead the nation in INT's. Toney is the best freshman in the country. We had the ACC rookie of the year 3 years in a row. come on lol
I think saying no one wanted Bryce is a bit hyperbolic. I never commented on him.cause I never watched his tapes. But I remember them talking about his tackling or lack of. Not that he was not a good player particularly in coverage. His tackling turns out to be quite fine.

They absolutely knew what was going on all day; Tom Loy mentioned in his post that he had spoken to them early afternoon and THEY told him the kid wasn't sure what he was doing. That doesn't mean they agreed with what happened. I think it's pretty clear they didn't. Now, could that be embarrassment or guilt because of the way it was handled? Possibly. But I think from watching that a few times they also didn't agree with the decision. The brother was grinning but that's it...

The fact the kid talked to OSU all day and didn't reach out to miami tells you everything you need to know. If it was all about the money and he wanted to be a Cane, he had plenty of time to see if Miami would match. That makes me think he wanted something different all along... IDK about the UGA aspect. They didn't seem to think they were in it at all recently.
Not basing anything on what Loy says or what he says the family told him. The 17-18 yr old isn’t making a decision on his own. Again, this is still to play out.

no one said he couldnt cover, people were worried about tackling.

lol If you could watch that and think the family was in agreement or in collusion with the kid, I don't know what to tell you.

FWIW, Adam has said the family was as blindsided as Miami

Athletes First already has some of the more renowned players in the NFL, not to mention a top-shelf coaching clientele that includes the likes of Ryan Day and Brian Kelly at the collegiate level as well as Matt LeFleur on the NFL side.

Jacobs' agents..... also rep Ryan Day

It might be a tad bit hyperbolic but not by much. In addition to tackling many claimed that he was slow. D$ was one of the few who was banging the drum for the kid.

Google is a wonderful thing. Athletes First also has an office on Roswell Road in Atlanta. Mark Richt is extremely close to the family. Kid’s father played at Georgia. Point is there are connections in multiple directions. Jacob’s eventually won’t sign with a program because he & the head coach share the same representative. It’s business & likely will come down to what the family deems to be the best package.

There were people that questioned his physicality and the there were also questions about speed. Film was good but his track numbers didnt matchup. I was one of those people and obviously was resoundingly proven wrong based on this season.

our center is not that good. how he got an all American team and Bryce didnt make Freshman AA is beyond me.

I agree. if you watch the former players on sidelines they were like just run the ball with Fletcher.
The Center does a good job of knowing what to do each play but he just gets pushed back on bulrushes if the DT is slightly good. Well we about to see a master bull rusher at DT with OSU so thats a huge matchup. Even on Fletchers long runs he was getting pushed back into Fletch on his runs. How Fletch avoided it was crazy, this is why Fletch sometimes dont get anything during the season cause of that spot. Thats why that boy looked different vs TAMU, he rarely gets shot out of a canon like that.

I remember saying to myself during the game, Fletcher got some juice today. Its cause we never see that **** lol.

it got leaked OSU made a phone call like the big boys do, bypassed the [parents and got him. They trying to rattle us before the game cause they are already rattled. Pay attention to the player interviews those boys dont respect us, they about to find out

Ok but didn't they say we the highest offer? Or Ohio capping?
kid committed to Miami, told coaches and even reporters he committed to Miami... even told them in the morning he was committed to Miami...

obviously if they were on the phones all day, the only thing that changed would be $$$... UGA was eliminated because they didn't want to match the higher bids...

at the end of the day, it seems like this kid will go to whoever the highest bidder is....
