Dave Aranda: Great DC Or Cool Ranch Doritos?

Wisconsin defenses are always good but stats are misleading. Because the style/pace of play other offenses get much less possesions and plays. Also defenses is never rushed out after 12 second 3 and outs ala Baylor. Wisc teams are always smart/savy well coached kids that overachieve. Much different than dealing with athletic beasts at say LSU.

Alabama has a slower pace of play and is ranked slightly below Wisky. Does that mean Bama's D stinks too? Or does this only apply to northern school defenses?

Look at who Alabama plays compared to Wisc. Nobody saying he isnt a great DC, just saying maybe he might not be the right fit for the type of players down here. Its a valid concern.

I love when people talk about competition in College Football. Like there are aren't 90 teams out of 120 that are somewhere between mediocre and ******. Everybody plays ****** competition.

I think people are confusing a normal 3-4 defense and Coach NoDs version of the 3-4.

Before you bash Aranda do some long term research on the guy is a budding Defensive genius. To the point that NFL teams have gone to him to learn how to defend the read option. Aranda's defense at hawaii held 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick to his lowest career numbers to date at any level when Kaepernick was at Nevada running the infamous Pistol Offense.

So Aranda has been doing it for years. Also Aranda's defense in the Outback Bowl gave Auburn all they could handle the year after they lost to FSU in the title game. An when Bama played Wisconsin this year Aranda out schemed Lane Kiffin, bama won based on brutt force not scheme and considering Lane Kiffin is an excellent offensive mind that is a helluva accomplishment.

Where anywhere in either post did i bash him? In fact exact opposite, i complimented him. And your last line about he outschemed Bama despite getting blown out....that kinda feel like something Al Golden would use as an excuse. We had em out schemed them but lost by 35.....

Aranda just held USC to 200 yards less than their per game average, and 14 points less than their per game average. That is with a team of 2 and 3 star players going against a team of 4 and 5 star players.

USC averages 176 rush yards per game. Aranda held them to 65. Hard to possess the ball when your opponent decreases your rushing output by 60%.

On what earth are you looking at this and not drawing a conclusion that this man is an excellent DC????

And what DC would you prefer????

It's contrarian facquitry. The guy just shut down 4 and 5 stars with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars. Does more with less. That's the definition of good coaching.
