Darrion Owens medical redshirt?

Is he eligible for one since he was hurt in the second game of the season? Malcom lewis got one his freshmen year since he got hurt early in the season but I still see Owens listed as a Junior.

Yes I am almost certain Owens will get a medical hardship year. My understanding is a medical hardship year is applied for prior to the player's senior year. I believe that Owens would apply for it next offseason and if it is granted he would be listed as a Redshirt Junior next year.

Hope that helps. I'm not too sure on the specifics of the rules governing these matters but I am certain that Owens will be granted one. Especially since he never took a natural redshirt.
