Darian Mensah has a 228.24 Passer Rating

This season, through 4 games, Darian Mensah’s passer rating is 228.24.

I’m including the FAMU game because, as far as all-time NCAA records go, all games are included.

We obviously have a long way to go, but I just wanted to point out that Jayden Daniels has the NCAA record for passer rating in a season, from 2023.

His passer rating was 208.0.

Mensah’s is TWENTY points higher.

For context, Mensah could come out against Clemson and throw 5 interceptions on his first 5 attempts, and his passer rating would STILL be higher than Daniels’ NCAA record.

You’re watching something completely historic through 4 games, full stop. Only 4 games. And the competition will obviously improve. But what this dude has done through 1/3 of the season cannot be ignored.

94/106 in practice is unheard of. 94/106 against air is honestly really good.

94/106 at over 10 yards a clip with 14 touchdowns in actual football games is hard to comprehend. This isn’t even remotely normal.

Keep the pedal down, kid. What you’re doing thus far is above anything the sport has ever seen.

Not good enough
 
It helps to have a war that gets open and catches everything remotely near him (Toney) but Mensah makes this look easy. Truly impressed and looking forward to the next 2/3 plus of games
 
He’s also number 1 in QBR now, a very relevant stat in the quest to win a national title.

one of the ones I like looking which has a very high correlation to the NC race is QBR.

2025: 3rd
2024: 1st
2023: 3rd

Some context:
The ONLY major outlier was Jake Coker in 2015 during Derrick Henry’s Heisman year. The next “lowest” was 2018 Clemson with Trevor Lawrence and he didn’t start until several games into the...

Mentioned in another thread, I think he could challenge or break Bo Nix’s NCAA single season completion % record that was set in 2023 (77.4%). And that would be pretty amazing because Nix’s air yards per attempt were a lot less than Darian’s.

Also for the national title or bust crew:
2025 Fernando Mendoza 72% (was 73 before playing us)

2024 Will Howard 73%

2023 JJ McCarthy 72.3

2020 Mac Jones 77.4

2019 Joe Burrow 76.3%

Another thing about him that I wasn’t expecting: he’s actually a pretty good runner. Maybe it’s because he was reluctant to run last year (also got sacked a lot) but it wasn’t really something we talked about much.

I’m not even saying he should run MORE, but it is something Dawson should have stashed away in his bag for the post-season against certain looks/situations.
