Daniel Wright transferring to STA

Don't really know much about him. What are our chances with this kid and how much of a priority is he?

LOL. Wow. I cant say I blame these kids. Why not? Top notch coaching, unlimited resources, elite NFL alumni base, national exposure, rich private school girls, the luxury of practicing against elite recruits on a daily basis...At some point we cant blame these kids. Kids in Broward just dont have that loyalty to the neighborhood school like they do in Dade.

Hes..kind of a big deal...He is probably the #1 Safety on our board. Heard we have a shot but that we might have to fight off FSU. Cant hurt he is at a school that is very Cane friendly.
 
I mean he was at Cardinal gibbons which is top flight private school in Broward ... I don't get it

I'm far removed from you guys' situation but it sure feels like Dade kids tend to group up at whichever school has the best coach at the time as well. Northwestern(Mid-2000s)/Southridge (now)/BTW (Ice era)/Central (last 5 years)/Killian (Rolle years) have all benefitted from this group transfer, follow-the-coach mentality in the last 15 years IIRC.

Has to help our chances, having pro UM guys like Al Blades, Asante Samuel Jr. etc. around him

I can agree with this. I would be interested to see what would happen if lets say a Miami Pace or Miami Gulliver opened up the checkbook and brought on Billy Rolle or Roland Smith as HC. Would the kids follow..Then again, its hard to compare to a St Thomas. The name alone carries weight. So I guess we will never know.
 
I don't understand the issue, kids go to magnet schools for other stuff, nursing, IB, different things. Why not go to a school where you will get great coaching and compete against the best in practice and win championships.
