Miami Hurricanes star-studded cornerback Damari Brown spoke with the media after day No. 3 of fall training camp inside the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility. Here is everything he had to say after the practice:
On the competition going against wide receivers: Best of the best. Doesn't get no better here. I feel like we got the best skill guys, not just in South Florida, but in the country. Show day in and day out, and it's only day three.
On evaluating one-on-one reps: Use reps to just critique the good and the bad. You don't really try to take credit from the offensive guy or yourself, just improve on whatever you think you did bad or did good. Kind of just self-critique.
On working his way back from injury: That was very tough. Kind of felt like I let my teammates down, but I kind of had to do what's best for myself health-wise, and know that those guys have my back.
On what makes the cornerback room so special: We just had each other's back. We stuck together all throughout the season. If one was out, the next one is in. Just rooting for each other, just staying in one group and just staying together.
On the secondary: Going good. From spring to the summer, to here, those guys have been pretty familiar with that defense. So this is about that third time around going over it, starting to stick to those guys. They're playing fast, and they're jelling.
On Coach Terry Jefferson: He's a cool coach. Wants the best for his players. Gonna demand the best. This is his first year having a corner room, so we're just embracing him and just learning as we go.
