2017 NT Dalyn Wade-Perry from Pope John XXIII HS in Sparta, NJ was offered by Miami recently.

Link to article about UM's offering Perry
https://miami.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?sid=903&script=%2Fcontent.asp&cid=1760822

Wade-Perry standing at an impressive 6'4" 300lbs is a first contact player at the line of scrimmage, who separates from quickly blocks using strength an violent hands then promptly finds the ball carrier in the backfield (which is key because we see a lot of interior linemen who get penetration but don't find the ball carrier). Rutgers was his first to offer him, but it also seems PSU is making a big push for the 16yr old's commitment. With Miami future need at NT I really like the fact of identifying this young man early an hopefully giving him the full court along with landing a few massive NT's in the 2016 class, because these types of players need and want to play in a dline quality rotation. Also the best thing about Perry is that he plays the 0 or 1 Tech in high school an is okay with playing that in college, knowing he will be role player on defense, which is what turns off a lot of elite DT's from playing in Al Goldens 3-4 two gap scheme at Miami; so the sooner AG & Co can lock this kid's commitment the better.

After Perry's Top 5 defensive performance at last weekend Nike Opening Camp in New Jersey I fully expect this young's recruitment to explode over the next two years. So far PSU, UNC, VT, Miami, & BC have already offered combined with the fact his high school has produced a few talented FBS over the years I expect the rest of the B10 to come calling as well as the SEC (he is visiting BAMA according 247). 247sports for some reason feels he a strong Stanford lean at this point.

Rutgers first to offer big Dalyn Wade-Perry, sophomore defensive lineman from Pope John
Todderick Hunt April 09, 2015

Dalyn Wade-Perry, a 6-4, 290-pound sophomore from Pope John (Sparta, N.J.), earned an offer from Rutgers Wednesday during an unofficial visit to campus.

"I had spoken to coach (Jim) Panagos a few times throughout the week and he gave me an insight to how they need me," Wade-Perry told NJ Advance Media. "And after we watched the practice and I got to see the facilities, I had a meeting with coach (Kyle) Flood and that's when he broke me the news."

The 16-year old is explosive off the ball and already has the technique required to get off blocks and make plays.

"They like my physicality," he said. "They liked how I really got a good push off the ball, how I use my feat and my hands, how they're in sync, all that good stuff."

Wade Perry honed his skills as a young player after receiving some good advice from youth coach Vincent Hall.

"I've been playing football since I was five or six, so I mean, a lot of that stuff just comes," he said. "But I remember when I was in seventh grade, the coach told me like, 'You're not gonna be able to power through everybody, so you're gonna have to know how to play off. Like, if they lean one way, you've gotta get them to lean more and then counter back the other way,' basic stuff like that."

Boston College, Virginia Tech and Virginia have shown interest in the big run stopper and he is schedule to visit Penn State from Apr. 17 through the eighteenth for their spring game.

He is being recruited primarily as a nose guard or defensive one technique.

In 2014, Wade-Perry accumulated 32 tackles and two sacks in six games, while also starting at left tackle.

I stopped at Sparta,NJ

sorry pal

What's wrong with Sparta, NJ?

Granted Perry's supposed Top 3 in order: Stanford, Notre Dame & Penn State (according Ryan Bartow with 247sports) are your typical northeast kid's inclinations for school choices, Miami has always done well in pulling New Jersey kids.

I have no idea about his talent level. But I played against Pope John in high school, and the competition is abysmal. That entire corner of NW NJ produces at best 1 mid-tier NFL player every 10 years or so. And Pope John is no Don Bosco.

Well then it is a good thing for Perry that he is performing very well on the camp circuit as a Junior. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment develops.

How long ago are you referring to because in 2014 the nations #9 ranked athlete Noah Brown (Ohio St), the #25 ranked TE Ryan Izzo (FSU), and DT Noa Merritt (BC) came out of Pope John XXIII. In 2012 DE Malachi Moore signed with BC and in 2011 LB Cole Farrand signed with Maryland. So as I don't know about NFL players but in terms of pumping FBS players Pope John XXIII averages about 1-2 per year an just two years ago 2 of the nations best players come through there. An for the 2016 class Pope John XXIII has the nations #15 ranked PS-QB Sonny Abramson (committed to UVA).

An as far schedule they play in 2014 Pope John XXIII played the following schedule resulting in a 5-5 record:

@Depaul (Lost 21-49)
Paramus Catholic (Lost 63-10) (had 5 kids sign w/FBS)
High Point (won 44-0)
Parsippany Hills (won 49-28)
@Sparta (Lost 28-34)
@Montville (won 49-14)
Morris Hills (won 42-0)
Chatham (won 49-0)
@Vernon (Lost 17-24)
@St. John Vianney (Lost 7-56)

Some of those schools are very good football schools; both Depaul Catholic (Courtel Jenkins) and Paramus Catholic (Kiy Hester) have sent players to UM recently, and UM recruited a few Paramus Catholic kids last year as well.

Paranos, It was 30 years ago. But nothing's changed based on that schedule you shared. The only decent schools on that list are the closer-to-city Catholic schools like Paramus Catholic PJ lost to Sparta and Vernon, two rural local high schools that can barely put a scrub walk-on into Rutgers once a year. And of the teams they beat, you can be certain that there's not a kid on that High Point or Chatham team who would play one snap at a decent Dade County school. ****, my team beat High Point by about the same amount, and I was the starting LT/DT at 200 pounds. These guys are just plain bad.

If they're getting kids into FBS schools, it's because they're good "grinder" types that will get high grades, act as glue for team culture, and never get into trouble.

Funny how I get excited about DT's where Miami is concerned. If he's not stuck in mud slow then I'm for offering. Has to have potential though.

Remember though this kid is a Nose Tackle / 0 or 1 technique were power and strength are key, then followed by athleticism were as with a DT it is more so the opposite. Better yet think Cummins Diesel vs Chevy 572 big block.

Kid is originally from Cali... Recently transferred into Pope John. Yes Pope John plays some bad competition, but they've produced highly ranked players within the past 5 years. I know Noah & Noa personally. They are no slouches. Noah played every game for Ohio St as a true freshman & Noa redshirted for BC but will be a valuable to BC's DL rotation this season. Izzo may start at TE for FSU this year if not play a key role in their passing game.

When I played, Pope John was a joke but now they are recruiting the best players in Morris & Sussex counties. Players that Delbarton & Morristown-Beard can no longer get.
