Carson Beck is the only person that ruins the entire season if they get hurt just based on level of replacement. I can talk myself into people stepping up / masking the problem at any other position.

Outside of the obvious (Beck), I'm going with Blay. If he can do what he did to Arkansas weekly, we'll see the DEs do what we hoped they would last year.

Beck is obvious, but I’m gonna say Bain. Projections have him in the first round of next year’s draft, some high. If he plays to that level it could linchpin success for the defense; create more 1v1 opportunities for the young and talented defensive linemen, make it easier for the linebackers to run free and make plays, and creates easier scenarios for the already massively-upgraded secondary

Bain. He’s the only one on the defense that’s shown he can single-handedly disrupt what the offense is trying to do.

If Rueben Bain can get back to his freshman form, he can be a menace to opposing teams game plans, we really need him to close out games this year and play up to his potential

The obvious answer is Bain, but I’ll add, hopefully, whichever LB’er steps up this year. LB is my biggest ? On defense right now and defense will determine whether we are a top 5 or #20 team.
