Dade County HS Football....

Our champions lost to a bunch of private schools , who recruit a lot of their players , Miami central and northwestern are inner city public schools who get guys out of their own back yards to play for them.

huh, Lowndes and Marietta are public schools.

Way too many excuses & LMFAO @ the weak moral victory for Champagnant Catholic.

So we should award them a moral victory against Lownes County when they have a significant talent advantage against every single school in 2A? Really? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

so let’s feel sorry & make excuses for Miami teams that got smoked by out of state teams that recruit EXACTLY how the Miami schools do to the other schools in their area & the rest of the state? FOH

These same excuses are never afforded to other teams in the area, district, region, or state when they get smoked by south Florida schools. I mean never...

South Florida has 6 million freaking people. Ain’t no one buying all these **** excuses...they’ve had their fair share of out of state victories going back two decades but 2019 just wasn’t their year. Freaking own it already...enough with the excuses.

Agree and slightly disagree. Agree, Dade schools need to own the L's as much as they brag on the W's.

On the crootin front, it's cRaZy everywhere, correct. In some Georgia school districts, Lowndes and Buford (both are powerhouses most years) for instance, they have a buy-in program. You can legally pay a small sum of $, and enroll at these PUBLIC schools. Can this be done in Dade? Honestly don't know. They make is very easy in Georgia in places.. What's crazy about Lowndes is that Valdosta is 5 miles down the road and have been a national power as well. Lowndes was known as "the white school" when it opened making Valdosta the "black school.'" When Lowndes opened the the buy in program, it's amazing how many 4* kids were all the sudden at Lowndes and how diverse the football team became :)

As for the large population in SoFl, I think if you break down numbers of kids that play football, you'll find the player pool isn't really that large especially in Dade for a variety of reasons. Lowndes will have upwards of 200 kids in their program at any given time. Also, when you get out of SoFl, you begin to see the success of developing players at the middle school level. Literally have feeder programs. Unless things have drastically changed from my years in Dade, it's all pound ball driven.

I’ve always been under the impression that Dade has open enrollment and doesn’t require kids to move in district. In Ga you either have to make a move or sit out a year.

When I say district, I mean the specific school district for that specific high school.

Thanks. Been out of Dade for many years now. Very familiar with Georgia HS football as I know you are. I know the buy in thing at Lowndes and Buford (others), helps them tremendously.

For Buford, I would say yes, but Lowndes doesn't have a bunch of schools around to pull from. I live a long way from Valdosta and don't know the dynamics between the two schools but I know Valdosta is one of the most revered programs in the country (24 State titles and 6 Nattys). Of course, much of that was 20 or more years ago. Valdosta did win it all in 2016 and they beat Beaufort this year, so not exactly a doormat. Marietta also benefited from transfers and Grayson always does.

I don’t have an issue with how any school acquires talent. It is ironic to me that he was making excuses for Champagnant Catholic when those same excuses aren’t afforded to the in state opponents that Champagnant runs through year after year.

I suggest that you break how many south Florida kids that play football down since you brought it up. I’m from south Florida (born & raised) so I’d guess to say those numbers are UP.

I see Devin alot...he lives 10 miles from me...Does alot for Olympia HS.....Son is gonna be another Great one....
Serious question. How hard would it be as a parent to send your kid here given its current state?

Very familiar with the Grayson scene. You are spot on. :) ;)🤫.

Lowndes was getting all the top guys for about a decade. Valdosta has shut that down to some extent the last 4-5 years.

Really good to know. Grew up there as well, but have been OOS for a while now. I keep up the best I can, but a lot of my HS Coach contacts down there are no longer there. Always appreciate getting information from those of you still down there.

Cool story.

Champagnat a school in a shopping plaza scored 14 on Lowndes thats a win in itself. **** why is Champagnat even playing a Lowndes?. lol.

This is a very young MNW team...even with the 3 peat. They are starting a qb straight out of the 8th grade....and NO we dont have middle school football. He is coming from the optomist level ( played in my optomist porgram)and 135 pound ol...being thrown in to the varsity game in inner city miami and did his thing.

Every year fluctuates and i respect Lowndes program for years. The St Francis thig i dont know about much as its the first time i essentially heard of a Baltimore fb program worth a sh*t..but im guessing its similar to Dematha where they have ALLLLL the top area kids at that 1 school.

Off head Mnw, Central, BTW, Edison all split kids and are all schools within walking distance. Imagine if all those kids were at 1 school. SMH!

I ain't walking from BTW to Edison, MNW, or Central but I agree with the rest lol

IM not talking about Optomist/pop warner im talking about high school.

I

I think St. Thomas would beat any of those teams mentioned including St. Mary. **** I think Chaminade would give most of those teams trouble.

Lowndes is the county school and Valdosta is the city school. Lowndes is by far the larger of the two in terms of enrollment. It is also a better-resourced program. Valdosta gets a lot of involvement from former players, which really helps to keep them afloat. Otherwise, it'd be a typical "poor high school" situation without the resources of more monied districts.

Lowndes has the consistency of the same coach for a long time and the feeder middle schools run the same systems. The kids are well-prepared and well-coached.

One of my good friends is a Lowndes grad and I've followed their program for a long time. I don't know anywhere near as much about any other Georgia program.

Yes, it is true. Plus, that area has more gifted athletes overall than South Florida, spread out over all sports and many ethnicities. That region has dominance in many sports to include:

Football
Basketball
Lacrosse
Swimming
Wrestling
Gymnastics
Etc

As a result, the football talent is being cannibalized by other sports. Probably the best college basketball and NBA talent in America comes out of that region. Many of those guys were young football players but stop playing to focus on hoops.

Same thing with lacrosse. The best lacrosse in America is played in that region. Many of those lacrosse guys were really good at football, but stopped playing to focus on that sport.

Plus, you have many Olympic athletes coming out of that region from many other sports (swimming, gymnastics, etc)

So, if the DC/Baltimore metro area is already whipping South Florida in football, it would be even more dominant if football weren’t being cannibalized by other sports.
