Clemson's offense is plodding and methodical this season.

And yet it walked through our defense like we werent even on the field.

He's grown a lot as a coach, too, which is impressive to see. Some guys show up with a lot of bluster and get you a quick 10 wins and then blow themselves out-- Like Harbarf will do at Michigan. Others show up when you have enough talent already like Urban and then pull a hemorrhoid attack when they are out of bullets. Dabo built that machine brick by brick, stacking classes and developing the culture. They're impressive. I think what he's done there is the right framework for what we're doing. We are basically around where they were 2011. I think Richt's experience and our recruiting base can shave some time off (it already has). Next step is to grow a QB.

We are a better program than Clemson. It is much easier to build Miami than it is to build up Clemson. Clemson doesn’t have much history and their recruiting base isn’t close to ours.

We hired a competent coach and almost immediately got back to normal. We probably don’t need to go through years of ups and downs before we are back to elite status.

Clemson took off when they hired Chad Morris as OC and adopted a cutting-edge tempo spread. They don't win by "out-talenting" teams; they win with elite coordinators putting their players in a position to succeed.

I don't see how the conclusion is Miami needs recruiting and talent when Miami was the more talented team this year compared to Clemson. That will bear itself out in the NFL as it always has.

It's the same story as ever: Miami needs to avoid getting outcoached and outplayed at the QB position to win big.

You need a combination of both. You need player talent and coaching talent. You can't consistently win big-time college football without both. Clemson has talent and DEPTH on both sides of the ball to go along with their talented staff.

So I say to us canes fans, we are ahead of schedule, the savages are coming, the championships are coming.

So because Dabo had success we're guaranteed to have success?

Is this a serious post?

Yes serious post. You recruit consistent top 10 classes and develop them and you will be considered among the elite, and from what I've seen this staff has the ability to develop which is what the other staffs lacked tremendously. This was simply just an example of what happens when you recruit at an elite level by year 3 and 4 great gains will be made.

Many programs constantly recruit well and...don't have success.

There is no connection and IMO you picked a program you hoped we would have similar success too and explained that it took a long for Clemson so we're ahead of schedule.

Ok name me a team who has had elite success in two years or less? And of the teams who consistently have top 15 classes and suck, the only two I can think of are tenn and florida and their coaches got fired for that reason.

A has nothing to do with B.

Your connection is awful and there is no correlation but keep porsting.

False statement. Even if we have more guys drafted doesn't mean we are more talented team. NFL scouts look for very specific things, there have been plenty of players taken in the NFL who didn't do anything in college (heck, we've had a ton here in the past 10 years) and vice versa.
Also Clemson double the amount of 4 and 5 star players on their roster than we do. They've devloped those players well into a proven system with very strong culture.

We wasted half of the careers of our SRs under horrible Golden coaching and development.

The point of OPs post is to show that we are early in the process and it will take time to get to the point when you can rotate 5+ guys at every position.

With all due respect, I'm not sure what was so cutting-edge about the Clemson offense I saw a couple nights ago. I saw a lot of bubble screens, where their QB hit the guy in stride and their receivers blocked well. I also saw a slot receiver sitting down in zone creases for easy pitch-and-catch.

Executed very well by them, no doubt, but I don't know that I'd call what they do some kind of revolutionary offensive football.

I agree with you. If anything Clemson's offense only reinforces the direction Richt is going-- Jimmy and Joe's with fundamentally sound Xs and 0s.

Besides talent and good AC hires, Swinney has also benefited from less attrition.

I remember an article comparing His & Richt's recruiting class from a certain year...Swinney's recruiting class remained mainly intact, while Richt lost something like half His class from that year.

IIRC, it was that recruiting class that was the core of Clemson's NC team last year.

I decided to post this for some perspective. Dabo got the interim job at clemson in the 2008 season after Tommy Bowden resigned after 6 games. He went 3-3 (1-2 ACC). He was only known at this time as a strong recruiter but a guy who lacked HC experience. They made him the head coach for the 2009 season, and here it how its gone:

2009- 9-5 (6-2 ACC)
2010- 6-6 (4-4 ACC)
2011- 10-3 ACC Championship. Lost in orange bowl 70-33 to west virginia
2012- 11-2 beat LSU in chick fil a bowl
2013- Another 11 win season beat ohio state in orange bowl

I choose to highlight the early part of his tenure because we all know what ended up happening. Heres a guy who up until that time was a WR coach and great recruiter. So I say to us canes fans, we are ahead of schedule, the savages are coming, the championships are coming.

Agreed.

One thing that I think they do an excellent job of is creating a culture where the secondary depth are motivated and contribute in a big way. I'd like to get back to the days where our depth is pushing the starters instead of transferring for lack of playing time.
