Dabo receives contract extension to 2031

Lawrence was splitting 1st team reps from the time he got there in the Winter until they started playing games.

Lawrence also got designed in-game snaps with the first team and not just mop-up duty.

Klubnik is getting none of that. That tells me Dabo is all-in with Ukelele. They won’t make a change until the wheels fall off the season.

The schedule for them is soft, so that may not happen until it’s too late in the season to recover.
 
This may be an unpopular take on this, but I have data to suggest this is a good move for Clemson.

Can we all agree that the majority of us on here over the age of 35 know Clemson wasn’t chit since Danny Ford? They’ve been a layup W for **** near 30 yrs before Dabo. Dabo brought Clemson to such prominence that hadn’t been seen since the early 80’s.

Sports in the collegiate atmosphere is the life line to a lot of financial benefits to Universities, especially from the sport of CFB. Lord knows Clemson haven’t seen this revenue come through in their entire existence. Elite Coaches in CFB r going to receive big $$ b/c the amount of revenue they bring in to the entire infrastructure justifies it.

And b4 we start talking about the kids, prior to Dabo, from 1980 - 2008, Clemson had a total of 15 1st round draft picks. Since Dabo took over in 2009, Clemson have had 15 1st-round picks. From
1980-2008, Clemson had 41 top 3-round picks, since Dabo 33 top 3-round picks. In other words, Dabo have accomplished more in getting his kids paid in the past 13 yrs than The School, as a whole in the past 29 yrs.

This is how u sustain winning; u keep the head of the snake alive. History shows the most decorated programs have one thing in common, the head of the snake stayed on for yrs, if not decades. Is it reasonable to win a Natty every year? No; but, when u have the infrastructure in place starting from the HC, even when turnover happens from an admin, roster, or coaching staff standpoint, down years r considered winning 10+ games & playing in a NY6 bowl game.

Quite frankly, what we accomplished w/ the turnover we had w/in the coaching ranks is quite remarkable & unrealistic. We were literally the anomaly & not the standard. That chit eventually caught up w/ us, though, after Butch. But go look at the runs Bama, Michigan, FSU, ND, OSU, UT, Nebraska, & now Clemson have had: the common trait? A stable HC that’s created an infrastructure that can withstand turnover.

It’s classic from our fans...

Clemson has an ELITE Defense with some good weapons on Offense, they’re basically improved QB play away from being a Playoff contender & once they get Klubnik acclimated into the system they could be back to championship form.

People swore up & down they were going to fall off a cliff without Venables, but they haven’t missed a beat & IMO will actually play better on Defense this year than they normally did under Venables, mainly because their LB Corps is top of the food chain, which Venables Defenses never really had top tier LB play. They always had great DLines complimented with an aggressive Secondary.

But aside from maybe 2 or 3 drives, GTech was stifled the whole game & was held to just 73yds rushing at 2.4 yards per carry. That LB group patrols the 2nd level of the Defense & keeps the run game contained. The longest rush GTech had was a whopping 12 yards...

People on here get way to biased & blind to see things clear, but Clemson ain’t losing ground from being a perennial winning program any time soon.

From what I have heard - from people who would know - is that he's the prototype for being genuinely committed, in every single way, towards making it happen. Treating people around him right, work ethic, learning commitment, classroom commitment, practice tirelessly, and the talent to get it done. He is the dream leadership type for a football team. And genuinely charismatic/likeable, not a BS con artist or a nerd like Tebow. And he definitely has the physical skills to capitalize. Same HS as Brees, of course.
