D$'s Predictions [aka the Vault 1.0] [2023, 2024 and 2025 Edition]

I have a feeling UM told Mario that football could keep all the money from the playoff run and spend as desired on NIL.
Either that or the big boosters were so happy with the results from last season that the wallets are open wider than before.

Or both
They still have a budget. Got to remember they didn’t get Matthews and that was going to be a big bag. So you can take that money and use it towards another elite player

Ya'll can't handle this playa...

I agree but (4-5) 5 stars seems like a larger budget than the past few years, and this is after however much they paid for Mensah and his buyout.

Let’s just say the budget seems to have increased.

Said it before and I’ll say again, UM recruiting needs to be studied. Still scratching my head on how they are doing this.

The difference is we are landing those guys this year. They wanted brown, jones, keys and a couple others who were 5 stars they just didn’t get them

We were told last year that we had a top 3 at worst top 5 budget by multiple plugged in posters on this board. We just missed on most of our top of the board players. We did recover nicely late though. This year we are landing them. Every year we seem to be right there ready to make the jump to elite level on paper and just missed out. We land Stone in 24 like we thought and we hace 4 5 stars and a 300 class then. I think the big thing right now is that the proof of concept is complete. Back to back 10 win seasons with that playoff runs last year.

Proof of concept on the field and draft not only for the recruits but for our current players and donors

Young enough to remember all the mfs screaming we will never have a top 5 class and how those spots are reserved for Texas, TAMu, Oregon, etc…

I’m willing to bet $$$ we will sign at least one of Henderson/Jacobs/MJC (AU will be **** and we won’t give up), in addition to the top 247 guys left like Hyppolite and Woodward, that’d probably get us to 300 especially considering we will likely be around 23 kids max.

Would be insane..Don’t want to jinx but i loved this past years class more than any other class in the mario era, and the class before that had two freshman all American and a bunch of guys who flashed and may start or have a real rotation spot

Genuinely don’t know if any program has a higher trajectory right now

I thought playoff revenue and NIL were separate...
Could it be that you could use the playoff money for salaries?
Would love to understand this...

I would like to know as well. I was just hypothesizing that it seems as though we have a larger NIL budget this recruiting cycle and whether the playoff revenue was being used for that. I believe the allocation of playoff revenue is up to the university to decide. But I can see a situation whereby Mario negotiated that he could use the playoff revenue towards his own choosing; whether salaries or NIL.

I believe you can use through revenue sharing

I would love to read a primer on where the money comes from.
I understand that NIL means a business wants to use an athlete to promote its product.
If so, what is Canes Connection for? Administrative costs and/or promotion of the sports program?
Is there any crossover between the school budget and NIL?
Is the school paying salaries to the players and is everyone paid equally or is there a range of salaries?
Maybe someone can explain. It seems crucial to know if we want to grasp how recruiting/portal works.

@DMoney

Do you want to take a crack at these questions?

I'm a big fan of sausage (no Diddy, pause, all that!), but I have no desire to know how it's made. I think this should be the approach with trying to understand NIL, rev share, etc. I don't care how we got on top of the hill, just make sure we stay there.
