The question is - does the DL appear to be getting good training from Stroud? Are they similar to last year? Not as good? Potentially better than last year? Obviously, we'll know in less than 2 weeks, but I'd love to get your impressions from those who've seen practices and scrimmages in person. Thanks in advance!

Is this why you're asking?

No, but that's nice to see. Just wondering what the general sense about Stroud was if there was any gauge for the DL's performance this year under his tutelage.

Is it the 24th, yet?????

Of course they're the best he's seen, he's spent most of his career at Akron, Memphis, West Alabama, Samford, and NC State.

I guess his time at Auburn and FSU doesn't count. As far as his time at NC State, I pulled this from his official bio on hurricanesports:

"[Stroud had an] eight-year run at N.C. State, first as director of strength and conditioning from 1999-2004, and then as associate head coach/defensive line from 2004-06. In 2004, Stroud helped the Wolfpack allow just 221.4 yards per game and 102.4 rushing yards per game, both of which rank second in school history. In 2005, Williams set single-season school records in both sacks (14.5) and tackles for loss (27.5). Williams (Texans), Manny Lawson (San Francisco 49ers) and John McCargo (Buffalo Bills) were all selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. "

It's possible he's exaggerating their talent. But I think it's unfair to say he hasn't been exposed to high level talent.

I said MOST of his career.

I’m no expert but the defensive line looks good.

I don’t expect much drop off if Ford stays healthy and plays like he’s practiced.

D$ drinking the Kool-Aid as summer camp wraps up. ... I don't give a **** that Willis ended up not being drafted, he was a once-every-four-years type of player. Ford, Bethel and cast may be an excellent group. But Willis was special. He's going to start in the NFL this season.

p.s., I do think the senior LB combined with a quality DT group make the full front 7 as good as last year.

Willis was special, but we were saying the same things about McIntosh the year before. This is a great system for DTs and we've recruited well.

IMO Ford has more physical ability potential than RJ or Willis.

Whether he can play hard all the time is the question.

I agree. He's naturally bigger and just as athletic.

Two questions -- 1. How's his first step. 2. Does he have that dog in him? ... I know the kid is good. Kul may have been a lazy recruiter. But he understood how to identify talent. And he liked Ford over all other DT recruits that year. But Ford needs to take a BIG step to come even close to what we got out of Willis.

... No disrespect to McIntosh. But I knew Willis would be better than him, and understood why he would leave early given the situation.. It was Norton I wanted to return.

Have you ever said anything positive on here? I'm serious, you seem so incredibly bitter.
He's been angry ever since I questioned his eligibility to post given the fact he had not yet met the 100-post minimum for posting eligibility.

I wasn't the one who announced that policy--I just try to enforce it because it makes good sense.
.
Besides, who wants to go through life named Mal Bernstein?

Hill, Garvin, Shaq, Pink, Finley, is as good a 5 as you will see in the nation. If we can get average DT play look the **** out.
