Nice find by he staff back in 09. (Bravo Randall). It's strange that he didn't receive an offer from any NC schools but was offered by FSU, UF and Miami. I know he went to high school in Charlotte but is he originally from FL?

And what was his recruitment like, I wasn't really into recruiting at the time of his commitment.

I remember 3 star on scout. Bout it. I think he was committed to n Carolina at one point.
 
IIRC, he was well regarded. Staff got on him early, and got a commit, and he stuck. I'm pretty sure he could have gone elsewhere. Had he not been committed to the U early and an OOS kid, his 'star' rating would have been much higher. He was a great DL prospect. His issue has been health.
 
I think it was Hurtt that recruited/found him. From what I remember, he had a WR teammate who ended up at UNC but I don't think we offered.
 
FWIW I played high school football in charlotte and graduated the same year curtis porter did. I was pretty up to date of local teams and highly regarded players and I didnt even know who he was until he committed to miami. News of the private schools like his seemed to reach on all parts of the east coast but local media focused mainly on public schools it seemed. congrats to the guy, hope he balls out this year and represents the 704 in the nfl draft next year

Just like Regis went from 3 star recruit to being our best dt and now I'm pretty sure he's on an NFL roster.

Jheranie Boyd balled the **** out that LSU game when all dem UNC boys were suspended and Butch almost pulled off the win, if not for TE stonehands mcwhiteguy dropping the TD.

Curtis gonna ball out that way for us ever game this year.

If this guy can be healthy he can dominate this year and be a top pick in the draft but its all on him come on Porter!!!!!!!!!
