The campus has been changing for decades.

Having said that, the loss of the Towers is the loss of a huge campus landmark and icon.

Is the "new" science building replacing the "old", or will there be two buildings? I think most of the other stuff has been anticipated for a while.

Agree. My daughter was a freshman in 2012. Started amidst the rubble of the new music buildings, The Shalala Center and the new Rat.
Seems like it hasn’t stopped since then ….

I feel the same way about the Towers. They were “Miami”.

When will there be a new engineering building is the real question. Like the only thing that hasn't been upgraded...

The towers were definitely garbage and could use a replacement. But man, I do hope they keep the overall vibe and at the very least keep it to ONLY freshman. The biggest upgrade will likely be the dining hall tbh. the new centennial village does look hella nice though:

The new Centennial Village is going up super fast. It looks like it’ll be done well before its scheduled summer 2024 opening.

Engineering?

Ashe. Richter. Law School. Unger. Memorial. Learning Center. Merrick. Main School of Business. Main Student Union building. Mahoney-Pearson. Eaton. Lowe. That's a pretty big chunk right down the center of campus, and off the top of my head.

Once they tear down all of that, then I'll be concerned.

It's interesting to watch all the changes. Even when my dad grew up across the street and went there to when I attended and to now. Funny to hear him talk about stealing the canoes when he was a kid that used to be chained up in the lake. The Watsco was essentially brand new when I went there, called the Convocation Center. Good to see growth, but like some have said, the nostalgia and intimate pieces that made the campus Miami is sad to see make way.

As an avid weed smoker, I fondly remember the old “pit” by the arboretum and old wooden original classroom building. Also the hills along ponce that got leveled to make way for convocation center parking. That spot between the hedges and the hill was just full of freshmen from the towers smoking at midnight.

Is the pitt gone??
