It's Mario's Year 3 in the 2024 college football landscape. With the current NIL budget, lax transfer rules, and no ICs for HS kids, any of the handful of "Manny guys" remaining are now Mario guys. If he didn't want them, they should be gone and recruited over by now.

Just so happens ,I have been pouring over stats from last year and say what you will about Manny but the man can coach defense. PSU was number 1 against the run last year in both yds/game and yds/carry.

PSU was #2 in Total D in case you are wondering.

I really feel the difference in year 3 of Cristobal. Seems like the players they are bringing in are guys that love Football and love the grind. We need players who care about football, the team and winning more than anything else.

From what I've observed and heard from insiders, the players are all in on football. Coming in early and leaving late, organizing team work on their own, watching film etc.

The first 2 years have been disappointing, but I think that this is the year where he has "his guys" leading the team. I believe we will see the difference week 1 in the swamp.

I don't think most people appreciate how consistently weak Penn State's schedule is every year. They mastered the 7 home games every year tactic a while back. Their non-conference schedule is rarely is difficult. Many B1G teams suck - Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland. They lost to all the ranked teams they played other than Iowa (and I'm not sure how good Iowa was last year, but they're no UGa or Alabama).

As for calling the defenses, no comment because I don't know if he did or did not.

PS. I've never liked Penn State nor their KMart uniforms.

One time they faced a decent offense that spread them out, which was Ole Miss, they got ******* hammered.

Manny always does well with his D at first because
1. people haven't seen the gimmick yet
2. he is playing with someone else's recruits, once he gets his own guys, well, you know.

J.Harris committed couple days before Diaz was fired? If I remember correctly

(Two others I believe were being recruited by Diaz…Bissainthe who was looking iffy….and then McCoy, who I'm not sure if he was offered but he was being recruited by Diaz)

What's most frustrating about Diaz is…As a defensive coach…So few impact defensive players in his last couple classes.
