No one should be surprised by the Offensive weaknesses this year.... New QB, new OC, and young O-line...

The offense has a “right” to be in learning mode this year....

But ****.... the Defense— despite the youth in the backfield — should not be this much SH*T. They supposed to be the STRENGTH of the teams this year...

Watching them blow coverages, weakling-arm-tackling and lacking the strength up front to pressure the QB has been a complete disappointment.

So there is some glimmer that there’s potential for this team to turn it around.

Blake Baker should be the water boy— not a DC

I expect when Diaz gets into the DC job, things will pick up— if it doesn’t then ****, this team is going to tank as they start thinking about Portalling to other programs....


That would be ironic if Miami lost all their best players to the portal after stealing many from the portal...

Terrible indictment on what baker has done to the defense. If manny called plays Miami would easily be 5-0 right now.

We have had the lead (or tied) in the 4th quarter of every loss and the D has blown it. Huge problem.

Manny was away from this guy for 3 years. How familiar could he have been with how Blake's career was going while he was busy being DC here in Miami? None of that mattered as he hired him immediately upon becoming HC here.

Manny, your coaching tree ******* sucks. Banda, Blake and Patke are disasters. If not for Richt inexplicably promoting them after you took the Temple job you 100% would've taken all 3 of them to Temple. So that's to say, when it changed from Temple to Miami, you figured a rise in competition was no biggie and can still stick with this completely unproven crew in a conference we've never won and in a division we've won once.

Complete disrespect and arrogance on his part. Once again we're dealing with coaches that wouldn't be able to make a lateral move anywhere else in the P5.

That’s what I’m saying, new Oc, qb, young oline. Everyone expected the offense to be a work in progress however no one expected the defense to be THIS bad. They are responsible for 2 maybe 3 losses right now

Don’t think this is as much a could’ve would’ve should’ve debate as much as it is we messed with something that wasn’t broken. A lot of us banked on the D still being great. Maybe not as dominant but great. This D is embarrassing.

Sure you can, because Shaq and Pinck came back and were supposed to be veteran anchors for the D (if not one of the top LB tandems in the nation), the d-line roster/depth isn't even remotely in the same universe as the roster/depth on the o-line, and Manny and most of those players had been together for a while. Not nearly the amount of unknowns on D as we knew we had on O coming into this season. I don't make excuses for the offense either, but there is ZERO excuse for the D to have been performing as bad as they are. And it's head scratching stuff too. Vets like Shaq and Pinck just completely being out of position or not covering their man leading to lapses, or Bandy being out of position terribly, or horrific tackling from guys you would think know how to freakin tackle by now, etc. The D has done their thing in spurts, but the totality of it all has been a shocking disappointment. A lot of that HAS to fall on Baker.

Virginia's OL may be as bad as ours. We should be able to pressure the QB and keep him contained. Defense needs to make plays on 3rd downs.

I think the man last year was Simpson, he had that Dline cooking that cover up for a lot. Simpson leaving has really affected the d line, that D line just exploded off the ball last year. Defensively we have never been very discipline, always exotic, lots of flash but we could count on the Dline to bailed us out. What I don't get is how you go through spring and fall camp, and not noticed the how disjointed the defense is getting. Tackling is terrible, recognition by the linebacker is brutal, gap integrity non existent.

They seldom really tackle in practice. Plus our ol is so bad since spring they probably never gave our defense a REAL Look.
