Cristobal was Way Better Than Lanning at Oregon

You don't lose to Stanford, sorry that's just as bad. Oregon state unranked as well. While they were top 10. I'm not a blowhard at all. A loss is a loss. If you're ranked and drop to unranked that's garbage. Anyway it's sliced. It's splitting hairs. My point was oregon has a history of not performing. It seems like a culture thing. I don't play for them, so I can't speak how things are run internally. All I know is that Mario did excel here. Sure we took some lumps. But we're also not losing to unranked teams on the regular

me being in the military I have friends that are fans of teams across the country. My one friend thats a Oregon fan said same ole Mario after we lost to SMU, but he circled back and said he thinks Miami got the better coach.

Hes evolved, a bit slowly, but evolved nonetheless. And here at Miami he has hit grand slams at portal with QB coupled with great evals + recruiting. Thats how you get the upgraded results.

There were 2 Stanford ones that stood out in my mind. Funny how different things resonate with different people... but like you said, lot of bad losses in there to try and remember them all.

The utah games aren’t even top5 worst losses imo. The worst one is the blown game vs 6-5 arizona st when they were ranked #6

exactly... and you can still be phyiscal -- and explosive offensively
 
1. We are overdue for someone to post JJ’s record at OSU.

2. The ability to pick and get the right players is numero uno. Not sure a non football HS state like Oregon can consistently sustain the pick and then get needs even with the Phil Knight as a personal bank.

3. Remember when Mr. Pickens was the OSU bank. I wonder if Mr Knight has the bank set up post death. Oregon could become a lost to time program like Nebraska.

Ah got it..I think the caveman labels were kinda overblown if you look at his history. He just hired a bad coordinator with Arroyo and a solid but limited one with Moorehead, then another bad coordinator with gattis, who i think was gonna be his hire at oregon if he stayed there.

I think what everyone is describing with Mario is just the natural growth of a coach. Oregon was his first p4 job. His style at Miami still has the same foundation as it was at Oregon but with mistakes you get growth

You do realize that Stanford was a top 10 team when Mario lost to them...in his first year as HC.

yes, beat teams up in the trenches -- but still regularly put up 40-50 points

Again, there is a time and place for ball control and things like the 4-minute offense but there is no rule that says being violent and tough upfront precludes anyone from being a high scoring, exciting team. Again, think 80's Showtime Lakers, that's my vision for this program. A melding of substance AND style

Yeah, imagine getting 17-21 points put on you quick, then getting smashed with the run game while the other team is trying to catch their breath. Next thing you know its 31-10 late third and all you got left is explosive plays to catch up.

Not a boxing guy but kind of like getting hit with handful of haymakers, other dude is disoriented and then gets pummeled with body shots. Before you know it, it's too late.
