Cristobal is not the leading candidate

Chud, interestingly, is the only candidate that bridges the JJ, Erickson, Coker, Butch regimes as either a player or assistant. That is some wealth of experience of UM tradition. And Butch thought highly enough of him to bring him with him to Cleveland. That certainly speaks something given Butch's eye for talented coaches as well as players. Seeing that he has survived in the NFL for the past 11 years speaks something as to the respect he has garnered around the league.

If not Butch, I think Chud would be the best "plan B" option in my opinion. He has the NFL connections to bring some experienced assistants, and probably could get Mario to come back as asst. HC/ Recruiting Coord. This would help bolster any perceived negative as to Chud's dislike of recruiting (not sure if that is even true).

He would also probably have enough support from the cadre of ex-players which still contribute to the program. He is probably Blake's "safest" though not necessarily best choice.

When you sit back and think of everything else this program has been though over the past 12 years and how this BOT has contributed to our malaise you would think that they would be focused on finally making a great hire. Until Butch, or Tom Herman or anyone capable of energizing this fan base is officially introduced as our head coach, I will continue to assume that this administration will ***** it all up somehow.

Having said that, there is a feeling that the BOT have finally awakened to the fact that we will not put up with anymore BS and have a sense of focus and urgency regarding this hire. I still find it very difficult to be confident that they will get it right. One more thing. If they actually hire Butch, I will have become a huge fan of President Frenk.

I'm just curious how you read my post and managed to come away with "We don't need another con man" as the key point. Do you believe Butch and Herman are con men? I like Chud but I don't agree with your assessment of him being the best option.

I mean seriously a 27-47 record in Miami at a school where most of the players were from Miami.

What else do you need to know?

If you cant take lower rated Miami players and have a winning record against other crappy teams then why do you think he will do any different at the U.

Butch would take lower rated Miami players and win the coastal.

I would take Mario as a coordinator ad nothing else.

Over Richt's tenure he has pulled in likely the best recruits over every other school in the country.

Does he win? Nothing big enough for Miami fans. I have been in Georgia long enough to know he does less with more than any other school in the country.

Also he is so ingrained into the country/christian life up here he aint going to Miami. No way his wife lets him drag her to Miami.

I am still holding out for Chip Kelly.

He gets canned in Phily then he is either going to be a Trojan, Cane or Longhorn because those are going to be the only schools with the intangibles to build a dynasty and he doesn't want to work as hard as he did before to be always left in Saban's shadows.

If Texas fire's Strong this quickly it will hurt them with their chances.
USC might just be to close to Oregon and the PAC10 will never compete with the SEC.
That leaves the Miami job looking pretty if they will open up the pocketbooks.

Outside of that bring in Butch. He is old but name the last coach that coached more then 6 seasons at Miami . Butch has 6 seasons left in him for sure.

Good post. I would love to have Chip Kelly but I have a hard time imagining a situation were this administration would shell out the kind of money necessary to make it happen.
 
Miami would be wise to wait until after the season to interview some current HCs. No one is beating down the door to hire Schiano, Chud, Cristobal or even Butch. If they want one of those 4 the could get them at any time in the process. To be honestly, outside of Butch coming back, I don't want any of those other Miami retreads. We need to broaden our search. Trying to hire someone with Miami ties has already failed once with Shannon.

How does that make any sense for UM? We won 9 games with Golden and Randy, and nobody gave a ****. This city doesn't put up with just being 9-10 win type of team. Also, Coker was getting us 9-10, every year, except for the one where he was fired.

has schiano reached out? yes. but he turned us down before and money people at Rutgers want him back. i think he might be looking to use UM as leverage to get a bigger contract from Rutgers. i could be wrong tho

Chud is Blake's top choice.

Unless something better under 4mil comes along, it will be him.
 
Chud will have alot of NFL OC offers if we don't act soon.

Nobody is hiring Schiano or Butch.

Chud is severely under-achieving in Indy despite having one of the best young QBs in the league. No one is clamoring for his services except our dopey AD and a handful of fans.

Golden could recruit, hes evals are trash but the guy can sell the **** out of a school, we dont need a dam recruiter we need a coach that wins

Make coordinator of what? Recruiting? OL and ***'t HC in name for upgrade from Alabama is all you bring him in for. His energy could offset Chud's laid back style if that's the way administration goes.
