Everyone was saying that Cristobal was going to steal a ton of players from South Fla and bring them over with him to Bama I haven't seen 1 kid sign with them yet. I think he would have helped a ton if he would have stayed but his impact hasn't been felt through recruiting yet.

I personally didnt understand his role here at UM.... I definitely didnt like the thought of him being our new TE coach, so i think we upgraded w/ the Larry Scott hire.

i also just think it wouldve undermined the other staff members like Coley and D'onofrio if a new guy just came in as an "associate head coach" I dont think he was a good fit.

as far as recruiting was concerned, i new that Cristobal wouldnt steal more recruits to Bama b/c he was the head coach at FIU. He hasnt recruited elite talent during his entire time in S. florida for the most part. A lot of the top guys said they didnt even know him when Al Golden hired him..

Mario is a slick talker and great recruiter. Don't kid yourself. He would've helped in recruiting. He has great relationships with a lot of the HS coaches too.

That being said, ***** him for what he did to the Don

Agreed. Think about the offensive meetings where you have a TE coach taking orders from an OC who he hired when said TE coach was the head coach at prior institution. Wow, I need a dry erase board for that one.

I think Golden was just doing the best he could hiring coaches, probably never thought he would get Coley. I think he probably knew Cristobal wasn't sticking around a long time, it worked out pretty well in the end for us. I hope Coley stays for a while.

Hit it right on the head. Also it's August.

If you are a back to back NC team, the #1 team and have a coach taht every high school coach and player knows the name.. you don't NEED someone like Christobal.

What is he going to do that Nick Saban can't do better? (recruiting wise)

Alabama just wanted more recruiters out there and to give Christobal the rains in SFL area.. the NCAA dropped that easing of that rule so now his role is limited a bit.

Let's not spike the football before we're in the end zone, gentlemen. They could very well win another title this year and turn up the heat on some of our guys.

Couldn't even bring Lane to Bama. This staff is starting to lock down SoFL. fsu is nowhere to be seen. AK, Loserville, WVA all are dissapearing. Swamp scum have alway stolen a few, but their days are numbered. UGA hurt a little but Al is digging holes in their back yard to keep them busy. Hurlie is turning into a monster. All is good and Saban probably made a huge mistake. Southland made that oline--Mario is not his equal.

It also took him away from Miami if anything else. He is scum for what he did but lets not act like we weren't all salivating at the thought of what the addition of he and Coley would do for our recruiting.

People can say what they want but it is difficult to get kids from SoFla to go to Tuscaloosa. I dont care what Amari Cooper is doing up there. If they couldnt get Lane, who basically would have been a perfect match for ALA, then its gonna be hard for them to get other guys. They are recruiting Nationally right now so they probably dont really care. Lane was probably really the only guy down here that had a legit, "we REALLY REALLY want you" type offer. Like Deon Bush. When Nick Saban is in your freaking living room you know you are on the real Big Board. Everyone else has the same "offer" that all the other 175 kids have. Lol.

I'm sorry but with the exception of maybe two kids in so florida who was he bringing in? The jury is still out on them...Wehave the master recruiter in al!

They couldn't get Lane because at some point he became attached to the hip of QW.

Yeah he wouldve "helped" in recruiting, at Miami, in the sense that he wasnt going to make it harder to recruit.... but his hire wasnt going to make it easier to recruit s. florida players either.

He has nowhere near the same level of impact that James Coley had.... J. Yearby committed almost immediately after Coley came to UM. When Cristobal left he didnt take any recruits with him b/c none of the recruits that Miami was recruiting were ever recruited by him.

Now at Bama his job is to re-establish himself in S. Florida w/ the elite athletes but he has to start almost completely from scratch in that regard where Al Golden and his staff are firmly rooted in S. Florida. J. Stoutland had more pull as a recruiter then Cristobal.

Some SEC team wil try an snag Coley, I hope he stay at least 2 years.

I think Christonoballs is a one and done guy, even at Alabama. Honestly thats whats even more annoying. If he is one and done, which I think he is, there is little to no difference whether he is coaching at Miami or Alabama this season. Both schools have a history of feeding coaches to the League (Miami might even have a better pedigree. Yes, even in recent years when we have sucked).

I get that he is making more money this year and is playing for a two time national champion team and arguably the best coach in all of college football. Thats OBVIOUSLY pretty tempting. God dammit thats probably as temping as it gets. But he should have had morals and standards set for himself that wouldn't allow him to leave program he absolutely "loves and cherishes' in Miami with a talented roster poised to make a great run this season (hopefully).

Idk. Just a slimey move on his part especially if he's going to be moving on to bigger and better things just a year from now. I guess thats the only point im trying to make.
