The booster situation and commitment to put money into the program did not exist in 2015.

Ehhhh context:

1. This was after Mario bailed on Golden, & he was classified as “Benedict Mario” for leaving his Alma Mater for The Enemy Bama. The wound was still fresh

2. His last coaching stint was at FIU, which culminated in a sub .500 record & a firing

So the comments in this section at this time was more than justified. Bumps like this r just troll jobs

I didn’t even post in this thread. I might not have even joined here yet. DGAF, I didn’t want Mario then either.

The mouth breathers are missing the bigger picture. It’s not just hiring a coach, it’s the financial commitment the school had to make that really makes the difference. If the cheap administration hired Mario back in 2015, he’d likely have been fired by now anyway. UM was still bringing a knife to a gunfight in terms of spending on the program.

Best thing that happened to Miami was actually hiring Diaz in hindsight. Mario tested his Alabama knowledge in Oregon built a winning progran continued learning and evolving/ developing connections in the Pac 12 and now he is here as a more mature coach with legit head coaching experience and a lineage of wisdom from all the head coaches that mentored him.
 
If he was hired in 2015 Mario would be sitting in a jail cell right now because he would have strangled Blake James with his bare hands soon after
