Yep. The local HS corches will be excited just like they were when we hired Shannon. Then when they don't jobs at UM and Cristobag starts losing games they'll turn on him like they did Shannon.

Mario and a good staff can get it done here. we know all the local coaches and top talent know him well. Hire a top notch OC, DC, WR and DB coach and we'll get the kids. SEC coaches couldn't knock him because of his experience at Bama and their league. If it's not Butch or Schiano then I'll embrace Mario, he is Blood (former Cane).

They couldn't knock him? Do you know how easy it is to negative recruit a guy who went 27-47 then spent years as nothing more than an OL coach? He works behind Lane Kiffin man.

Don't worry guys. I'm sure there are a ton of quality OC and DC that would love to work under a coach with a career .300 winning percentage who was fired from FIU and has a history of being "hard to work with." We're good!

Even ignoring whether or not Mario can coach, he would be a ridiculous divisive selection at a time which requires an absolute slam dunk. Going with the one guy that would result in banners being flown day 1 and that would further the "Miami doesn't want to compete at the top level" narrative would be devastating.

Out of curiosity, I've looked into what Bama's fans are posting about the possibility of losing Mario. Most view him as an ace recruiter that was responsible for getting some Miami studs over there. They also think he would be "good" for us, but I think it's more a case of things being really good for them right now and not imagining that any dingleberry hanging off of Saban's *** isn't a diamond.

By the way, I found it interesting that they are also concerned that there will be a semi-mass exodus after this year (Mario, Kiffin, and Smart) which may lead Saban out the door, especially if he wins it all this year.

Bottom line: bring back Butch!
