Crazy to think

It could have been shockey but got banged up and faded out. But yeah, Olsen is putting up some serious numbers.

This....Shockey was by far the best; but injuries derailed his career...still upset about that. Kellen had all the physical tool, made a couple of pro bowls too, but his mental sucked. Best thing for Greg was getting out of that **** hole in Chicago (and I'm a Bears fan). They were under utilizing his 6'5 frame w 4.5 speed. Embarrassing. Glad he's resurrected his career; and if he stays on pace, he'll be in the HOF

you're forgetting Jimmy Graham...

Shockey in 10 seasons had 547 receptions, 6143 yds , 11.2 yds per reception, 37 TD's

Olsen in 9 seasons has 542 receptions, 6292 yds, 11.6 yds per reception, 49 TD's

Graham in 6 seasons has 434 receptions, 5357 yds, 12.3 yds per reception, 53 TD's

Olsen averages 60.22 receptions & 5.44 TD's per year

Graham averages 72.33 receptions & 8.83 TD's per year

we do put out some tight ends

shockey had the highest ceiling I think

Although those are valid stats, Jimmy graham came in the league playing with one of the best QB's in the league and he was used like a WR. Greg Olsen had a terrible offense in Chicago. Not saying one is better than the other but stats dont tell the full story here.

Graham is one of the best weapons in the entire league regardless of position. When its all said and done he'll probably go down as the best pro TE we've had

The fact of the matter is that Graham played 1 season at The U (17 catches 213 yds) and turned himself into a 3rd round pick...

Say what you want to about Chicago's Offense when Olsen was there but he still had Cutler throwing to him... Take a look at Cleveland
this year it was a mess but their leading receiver was their TE a journeyman Gary Barnidge... In his 7 previous seasons Barnidge never caught more then 13 balls but this year he caught 79 passes.... My point is no matter how bad the offense is someone has to get the ball...

Bottom line is that they're both great TE's but Graham's numbers are slightly better
