They said durning the game today Coach L is only 6 games away from passing Hamilton as Miamis winningest coach. Coach L has been here 6 years Hamilton was here 10.

Ya but Ham was brought in at a very rough time, total rebuild of the program.
Coach L had a good core of players, when he arrived.

2nd all time winningest coach in Bowling Green history.
Winningest coach in George Mason history (court may be named after him when he retires).
Soon to be winningest coach in Miami history.

You mean a core group of players that were considered garbage due to the guy that had recruited and NOT developed them? People forget that Julian Gamble was considered a role player, nothing more when Coach L got here. People forget that Kenny Kadji was considered a nerd that Florida wanted out before L got here. Reggie J. was just a fat guy before Coach L got here. Outside of consistent stars like D. Scott and S. Larkin, L overachieved with that 2012 team. Coach Ham inherited a relatively new program, but let's not pretend that he didn't take forever to make the program respectable. Coach L has managed to do a lot more, in a tougher overall conference(The Big East in the 90s was falling apart basketball wise, it wasn't even close to the conference it was in the eighties) a lot faster than Ham ever did. Frankly, Ham's tenure at FSU has been underwhelming.

Out of fairness, the team Hamilton inherited had not had a 20 win season in at least the 5 years before he got there. Coach L inherited a team that had won 20 games in 3 of the previous 4 seasons. But still. Coach L is doing more with less, and bringing in huge recruiting classes

Two years before Hamilton got there, Miami won 19 games and beat defending national champion Kansas.
