Crazy (bad) trend in our three losses - We've scored to lead/tie in the 4th quarter and still lost

Just some salt in the wound at this point but I think this is such a crazy stat/trend in our three losses this year. We've taken the lead (or tied) at some point in the fourth quarter of all three games; two of those games we gave up game-winning drives in the final minute (just after we score). Maybe this is payback for all of the close wins in 2017 (FSU, GT, UNC), but the reality of the situation is we seem unable to close out games this season. With all of our other issues (penalties, slow starts, Oline, FG kicking), we somehow still find a way to take the lead late in games, only to hand them the W in the end. It's kind of sick humor at this point to think that if Blake/Diaz made one late stop in each game, we could be the worst 5-0 team in the country.

Good point. Im not ready to give up on Diaz because it is his first year with young players at key positions. I do hope it is growing pains but its tough to swallow.

I think that’s where some of Manny’s frustrations with the defense lies. Statistically, the D has performed well this year. Situationally, we have been horrible. For Va Tech to score 3 TDs on basically the same play inside the RZ is insane. The best coaches show their worth on situational plays. 3rd downs, RZ, 2 minute, etc. Our coaches have been subpar in these areas, and it’s gotten us beat.

We also missed 2 FGs and an extra against UNC.. Honestly unbelievable. At this point, I would not let Baxa kick another ball this year. Have a walk on competition from kids at the school. Im not even kidding. You would actually have a better excuse when they miss.

Also, that's the same drive that JT4 dropped a TD on 3rd down just prior the the Bubba miss. So instead of being up 6, we would have been up 10; instead we were up 3 and then UF scored to go up 24-20.

5th year seniors like Patchan commit god awful penalties at the worst times
A secondary who constantly blows assignments
Not enough havoc plays or turnovers

our 3 losses also the other team came out and punched us in the mouth in the first quarter.. uf with the fake punt for a first down and then the uf td throw from the clear no called holding call on their wide receiver... unc marches down the field on their first 3 drives and scoring... vt capitalizing on our mistakes and scoring on all of them with a fing true freshman qb who just got out of puberty 5 months ago in high school

This defense has completely lost its edge. The offense and offensive line might be putrid this year but last years defense playing with this years’s offense is 5-0 today.

Baker does suck absolutely but the tackling has been atrocious at times. The defense has regressed since the Florida game and even that game the tackling wasn’t up to snuff.

Our defense, special teams, and offense all had opportunities to win each of those games in the fourth quarter, everytime each unit has failed.

When you are losing games to bad teams by one possession, I have to question the staff. We should have beat UNC and VT by multiple scores. Those teams are bad. This does nothing more than reinforce my belief that we do not have a quality staff in place

I wouldn't say the defense is " very good. " But it's good enough to defeat Carolina Blue and VA TECH. And yes, Miami's DC needs to be FIRED NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's that figure... Va Tech goes 63 yards on FIVE friggin' plays! Get the FREAK' outta here.
