It's hard to believe one of the best positions coach in the nation isn't being pursued by programs to be their D coordinator.

Man I hope this guy sticks around for a while, he is too valuable just in his perspective and the way he goes about his business.

think he was offered the illinois job but rejected it.

Its not hard to believe as it happens in college football all of the time. I had this argument about Randy Shannon.

Good coaches like good jobs and they don't take jobs just for a title. Trust me when I say that a good coach would rather be DB coach at Alabama than head coach at Tulane.

Of course Kool turned down DC jobs because none of those DC jobs were at a competitive power 5 school. No one wants to work at bottom feeders with extra stress, work, and criticism just for a title.

This logic seems to escape our fans when they want to shid on our alumni for not being a HC or DC.

no need to hope. Where the **** is he going to go?

He left Missouri after 10+ years and came to Miami. Trust and believe he is having the best time of his life. He likes continuity and a stable environment.

I think the guy LOVES his job, and loves job security. I don't think he's one that likes to move around a lot just for the sake of a change in title. Look at his last situation. He stayed with the same coach for how many years? Now he's with Mark Richt who has a history of being loyal to his assistant coaches. Coach Kool might just retire down here. If he really does love coaching D-linemen, and doesn't care to be a DC, where else would he want to be? He's in the Garden of Eden here.

Yea but he's been a top tier position coach for what, 15 years? For putting as many beasts in the NFL I find it extremely strange that he only got a call from Illinois to be a D-cord.

Looking forward to every DL commit we get with Kuligowski here....

If this guy blesses them, there's a really good chance they're going to produce....

This. I doubt he stays too long here in Miami.

If Diaz does well and gets a HC offer in 2-3 years Kool might be named DC.............

Could be, unless he simply wants to keep doing what he's doing. You'd think he'd have more offers already, honestly. Even NFL D-line coach would be a likelyhood. Maybe he just loves being a college D-line coach.

No need to find it strange just know that Illinois isnt the only team to come calling; but not many coaches are going to publicly state they dissed a bunch of schools.

Also, coaching is as much about networking as it is ability. A lot of coaches like to coach with their boys and people they get along with so they have a comfortable workplace.

Some position coaches coach in the same place forever, and outside of clinics, they rarely meet other coaches; which greatly limits their connections and ability to create a staff if they get a DC job or better.

There is so much that goes into coaching, man.

People think its just easy to get a job as a coach just because you put a few players in the league. Its a lot of good coaches with no job or working as position coaches.

Nah, he could have gone anywhere he wanted when he left Missouri. He came here to be a part of what Richt is building. I don't see him jumping to the first higher paying job that comes his way. He didn't do that at Missouri, and I doubt he does it now.
