I've been wondering about Courtel Jenkins, how good is he, and what the story was with his switch to DePaul Catholic from St. Anthony's. St. Anthony's is a tiny Jersey City HS well know basketball power - DePaul is a regional Catholic High School (notably within a mile or so of Wayne Hills HS (Kevin Olsen). DePaul has traditionally been a FB power. Bing and ex Jersey boy who lived in both Jersey City and Wayne - I was curious and did a few searches. This article basically tells the story of why he has become a hotter property, and discusses his academic and physical training commitments. This may be the guy we're looking for. I can see him rising to a 4 star after this season. Hopefully he won't de-commit if Cristobal or someone else comes after him. He will probably feel very at home in Miami...which after all is a suburb of NY/NJ.

Sumana beech! We offer this cat, he commits, then everyone else he was ever interested in starts calling and visiting. I hope he stays true to the U.

Good article, thanks for sharing.

Important part
TH: How do you feel about the Miami Hurricanes since the visit?

CJ: Well, I like Miami a lot. The visit it just boosted my interest. It's a great school academically. A degree from them means something so that's a good thing, too. Where it's located is good. The campus is small, the student body is small and it's diverse which is also good. And I have a possibility of going there and playing early so that's a good thing, too.

TH: I heard you had a pretty impressive visitor recently as Mario Cristobal -- assistant head coach of the national champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide -- stopped by DePaul to inquire about you. Tell me about that.

CJ: Yes, he came to visit me, last week. And he was talking to my coach, telling him about their camp. He hit me up on Facebook and asked me if I was interested in Alabama, which I am. And he basically wants me to get out to the camp, work hard and see if I can get an offer from them.

Penn State, Ohio State and Maryland have also recently increased their recruiting attention of Jenkins, requesting he camp at their schools in an effort to earn their verbal scholarship offers.

TH: Talk a little bit about how Rutgers re-entered the picture after appearing as if they wouldn't be recruiting you very hard.

CJ: It was a surprise, actually. Coach Cohen came to watch me train. And after the workout, he told my coach he wanted him to put me through a drill to see how fast my feet were.

I did some running, change of direction stuff and some speed workouts. And he basically said to my coach he had seen enough and that my body changed dramatically. And he said they definitely were gonna re-evaluate me.

Then coach (Jim) Panagos and I were talking (on Facebook) about getting up to camp, which I will because I go to Rutgers camp every year. And he said, hopefully they'll offer me from there. He said he can't promise me anything but to keep doing what I'm doing right now and my hard work will pay off.

OP this is OLD News Jenkins committed to UM the next day after this article came out and then shut down his recruitment 100%.

He is solid to UM no worries, so lets move on to the next DT UM is recruiting and be thankful UM has Jenkins in class already. If you write something send the young man a congratulatory message on Face book, welcoming him to the UM family.

Go Canes
