Could that loss to Pitt been a blessing in disguise?

Lets be real none of us thought we were gonna go undefeated, most of us were just shocked it was Pitt instead of a Fsu va tech or Notre dame. Losing isn't fun but it helps the team refocus. It is easy to see they were feeling themselves and that loss was only a matter of time. Even richt has to see he isn't calling good enough players the line isnt getting a good enough push rosier isnt helping the recievers. even the defense shows they are not as dominate as we are led to believe. One thing i do wish though is when you watch an Auburn offense we basically have the same type of talent with a better defense. Why cant we have more variety on offense gus malzhan had to help stidham get more comfortable remember how bad he was at the beginning of the year just like rosier? Richt isnt playing to rosier.

Nobody thought at beginning of season we would go undefeated, but Friday morning everyone thought we would not be getting pulled away on by a 4-7 team led by a true freshman third string qb making his first start, late in 4th qtr down by 3 scores. **** was embarrassing, then having your qb basically say he got complacent is even worse.

To answer your question no, it's not a blessing because if we won that game we would be ranked #1 playing #2 with chance to be locked in win or close loss which gives huge margin of error. We choked

I think losing to Pitt would be better than losing to Clemson. They would have screwed us with a loss to Clemson. We need that big win away from Hard Rock to complete the resume.

A fully “back” Miami team doesnt lose to a 4-7 Pitt team with the chance to play for the title.

To put it in perspective: if this was pre playoffs, pre ACC (which is when we won all our titles), a win versus Pitt plus the Bama loss would have resulted in us being #1 and in the NC game.

In other words it would have gone down at the biggest bed**** in Canes history.

If we beat Pitt, we would've been the #1 seed and went to the Sugar Bowl. Now we'll be the #2 or 3 and be in the Rose Bowl, a game I can attend. So yes it was a blessing.

This is why its so hard to stay undefeated in football in college and the pros its hard for an entire team to stay disciplined all season even againt down competetion

But this was obvious that Rosier didnt take anyone this season not name FSU, ND, or VT seriously as he seemed to be sleep walking through he game just wanting to go through the motions and say ehhh well win in the end

Nah bruh you need to lay the smack down and score every drive

I do think it will be the swift kick in the **** the team needed. They were overconfident. They figured they just needed to show up, and they would pull out the win like they usually do in the end. Now they know it takes 60 minutes of fight. Hopefully, that translates back into the intensity we saw with VT and ND.

Of course, I think Clemson will follow Pitt's playbook: stack the box and force Rosier to beat them with his arm. The loss and his benching should stamp out his complacency, I hope.

Not a blessing, but this team has seemed to thrive against good teams when being doubted. Let’s hope that narrative continues.

Obviously I'm not happy we lost. What I am happy about is that we're headed to charlotte with a chip on our shoulders. Had we beaten Pitt by a close score or blown them out, I don't think we come into this game with a sense of urgency needed to be competitive against Clemson.

No chance. You don't want any hint of self doubt. Normally when an upstart team loses for the first time deep in the season the energy sags and the next result is not friendly if the opponent is strong or troublesome. I mentioned that here a few years ago when the Canes were 7-0 before losing at Florida State. The subsequent home loss to the Hokies as 7 point favorite was not surprising at all. If we had lost to Notre Dame this season I would have fully expected a defeat to Virginia a week later. The way that Virginia game played out, I'm even more certain we would not have rallied if coming off a loss.

Granted, this is a very unusual situation because the game after the first defeat is absolutely vital. No room to deflate. But overall I would prefer to still be unblemished.
