Cortez Kennedy

Its absolute sophistry to proclaim Cortez Kennedy not being in the same class of both Brown and Sapp. He was thee dominant defensive lineman in cfb in 1989. He just had the misfortune of being a 2 year juco kid who was overweight his first year in the program. He exploded on the scene as a sr after beating out talented Jimmie Jones who finished the 88 season as a starter alongside Maryland. Both Brown and Sapp were identified as potential supas much earlier in their UM careers thus giving fans more to see.

You lost your wife and your daughter? So sorry to read that. Very sad. My heart goes out to you.

I didn't read your writing about that except for a post where you talked about your late daughter.

Very very sorry for your loss.
Unfortunately yes...Lost Daughter, then my Ex Wife 6yrs later...we had already divorced in 01..(but remained close)..I Lost Daughter...Ex Wife, and best friend and Mentor all within 6yrs..

Yeah, we’re ****** due to see the likes of that again. We been kinda close lately, but not close enough.
We haven’t been close since those dudes left UM. Had some good DL but the boys were all pro and HOF type players. We will never see that type of dominance by DLs again at UM. Just unbelievable talent and they played with an attitude you cannot teach. They had the “it” factor!

With these threads about our best players , Cortez Kernnedy what a load he was for some reason he just seems to be left out of the stud conversation , well not this time :)

Just figured I keep this Cane studs name alive, yes I'd put him on our all time D front seven would anyone here disagree ?

Boy now that we’re talking BEASTS how about Jimmy Jones.

Great recruiting story, I’ll make it quick.

JJ went to a high school practice to see someone else and saw a future BEAST standing on the side line weeping wanting to play but has to work and couldn’t play.

JJ asked him do you want to play DT for me at the University of Miami later became #2 draft choice Dallas Cowboys.

YEAH I’D SAW HE WAS A BEATS🙌

Yep. Sapp was a freak athletically. He was almost inserted at TE when he first arrived! Gino begged Coach E. Looking at him you wouldn’t think. The dude dunked in an intramural BB game, boys from the team lost it.
I believe he was recruited as a TE...then moved to DL by UM coaches

Played some TE in HS but came to UM as a defensive recruit. It is a fact that Gino begged coach E to use him at TE his freshman year. They were more interested in developing another dominant DT like Tez who was AA in 89 and Big Russ who was AA in 90 and won the Outland. Sapp became the answer.
