Corn's coming back

Futch should go futch himself. Idiot. The day Canes fans ***** over a legit first or second rounder leaving is the day his comments will be accurate. The difference in guaranteed money between being a second rounder vs a fifth rounder would truly be life changing for these kids whose financial situations would lead them to even consider trying to get paid quicker than they should. Futch playing the "you're being exploited" card won't do a lot of them any good if they never see a second contract and the first one was way less than it could have been.

It's a tough decision for any kid. Fans love to play the "improve your draft stock" card while agents and family play the "you could blow out your knee" card. If he gets a career ending injury next year playing for Miami for free, then he'll get never get the first contract either.

I think it's appropriate that the NFL draft advisory changed their ratings to 1st round, 2nd round or neither. After the 2nd round, the guaranteed money is pretty much done. You're right that there's a big difference between the 2nd and 5th round money, but not so much between 3rd and 5th or 6th. Here's what the top pick in each round got in guaranteed money last year:

1 - $25m
2 - $4m
3 - $808k
4 - $571k
5 - $247k
6 - $148k
7 - $79k

There is no easy answer, but I can't fault any kid for making the leap no matter what their perceived draft stock is. The draft is a fickle beast and there are no guarantees that a "Neither" turns into a top 64 pick even with a great season. It's a crapshoot either way you go, and you just gotta go with what feels right.

yall saw what the supposed JOrdan Futch said?

Bruh Jordan Futch here. Why are you guys encouraging these guys like @respect_yo_elder to stay another year. You should be encouraging them to leave. You have to leave to the NFL while your hot. The school makes all that money off of those tickets and return shirts and Corn gets nothing. Bruh listen you have a family it's ok to be selfish go to the NFL make your money and feed your family. Your degree will still be there when your done. Don't listen to these canes fans there selfish and just want to win which is good but you did what you had to do this year now go get paid family![

SMH....hes right about the fans and the school but oh so wrong about everything else leaving to be a 5th round pic does nothing for your family in the long run

He's not entirely correct. Sometimes staying works out in the long run. What sense does it make to leave early only to be a 6th round pick? Or a 7th round pick? If you don't pan out your first year, you're cut, then there goes your NFL future. If you're slated to go late in the draft after your junior year, come back and improve your stock. It sometimes works out, it sometimes doesn't. But that's the NFL it's always a gamble.

If you get drafted in the first 3 rounds, teams are likely to stick with you and develop you because it's more of an investment. Yes, fans want him to stick around for selfish reasons, it's true. But not every single player needs to leave after their junior year. Might've worked out better for guys like Forston and Streeter had they stuck around their senior years? What are they doing now?

I don't recall fans saying the same thing about Duke. We all knew his stock was about as high as it was going to go and there wasn't much left he could do to improve it. Most people on this board were supportive of his decision to declare early.

This is ****ing huge, man. I'm so happy for him and what it means to our defense.

He can add some size, ball the **** out and maybe get himself some bigger up front $.

CB Elder
S Jenkins/Johnson
S Carter
CB Redwine/Byrd

I'm in. They'll all thank Coach Kul anyway.
Actually I think Jenkins might be transferring out...

¿Que?
He had a post on twitter or IG hinting at not being back...it was cryptic but just something to consider. If true, the big difference is that Im confident that CMR will replace him just fine. With guys like Golden and Shannon, we'd be at Jenkins' mercy.

How? He's going to be a senior. He'll lose his final year of eligibility. Unless he goes the FCS route....which again....why?

Yeah ur right...seems crazy. Maybe he was just bein a ****er...

Jenkins isn't transferring. Dude isn't going to go from playing at Miami to an FCS school. That's the only way he'd see playing time. He's not exactly a scrub either so it's not like Richt's going to take his snaps away. Some of ya'll.....man.

I saw the instagram post. He was speaking in generalities. I didn't see it as being a diva...just a general statement.

This would be news if he really was ever a surefire late round draft pick and I'm not sure he would've even been that. He's decent in college, but viewed as much better than his results.

In glad he's coming back, we need him. I just don't see his game translating well at the next level. I hope he proves me wrong.

I under stands why burn left but elder should be a number 1 draft pick next years .

This is exactly what I'm talking about. He lacks the size and speed to go that high.

Edit: Late third or anywhere in the fourth would be outstanding for him next year.

Ya never know. With some good coaching this year who knows how he ends up.

I'll tell ya one thing, I had no idea Sam shields would be starting for the green Bay Packers year 1 and play amazing to help them win a super bowl

These kids have the talent they just need the coaching... Something we're finally going to have here
